GoDaddy dropped support for WordPress and all other apps in Basic Hosting

I have most of my domains with GoDaddy and use their included hosting ("Economy Hosting") for a couple of them. Previously, the included hosting included support for apps. See https://hostingconnection.godaddy.co...WordPress.aspx now, none of the apps are available in the free hosting account. Even though it meets all the listed requirements.

This probably changed a while ago and I just noticed it.

You can always just install them yourself by following the instructions found on wordpress.org ...

99% of the time when someone says something about GoDaddy, he's there, virtually instantaneously, to defend them.

(should have been 'cue' not 'queue' .. bad day today)

I hadn't noticed the correlation between Collabora and GoDaddy threads, I guess I'll have to keep my eyes open a bit more

Me either, even the 'heated debates.'

@ the OP: Most scripts like that take about 2-3 minutes to install. Once you do it a couple of times anyway it's really simple. Might be easier if you have a buddy to walk you through once or twice. But the instructions are generally spot on.

Thanks. I had assumed I wouldn't have direct file access, as that would probably make it possible to remove the ad banners.

Seems the account is more full-featured than I realized. I wonder what other features the economy hosting has. (SSH?)

Maybe I can fix my broken wordpress install now. (The admin interface has no CSS, so it's more or less unusable.)

OP is just making an observation But not to dissapoint the peanut gallery. I don't know what day it happened either. But it is free hosting. I guess they needed more feature to entice an upgrade.

You have same access as paid plans. BTW, I know how to get rid of the text ad (not banner ad) on a Windows account. Haven't tried on a Linux acct yet.
