Art Services (Characters, Mascots, Custom Art)

Hello, everyone

My name is Daniel Mesa, I have been providing my services as an artist and designer for some time now. If you are an old forumer, you may as well remember me, since I've been wandering around these forums in the past.

I just wanted to post an update regarding my website and personal portfolio:

http://www.danielmesa.com

If you are in need of some artwork for your website, do not hesitate and ask, we will be glad to help.

Thank you,

D. Mesa

Depends on the task, if you are in need of something, just send me an e-mail with a brief explanation of what you want so I can estimate a price.

Normally, if the client allows me to create freely, it gets cheaper, since he just chooses what he wants and the work is way easier. If there are rules, restrictions, the client changes his mind continuously... there are more revisions to make and the final price increases.

@bear: Same name, I used to contact people to hire services under the same name. When I started off my own projects, I registered. Some of the people I contacted long ago may be around.

I used this guy for a Mascot turned out well and was happy till i asked for the files.

I got told i i could have gif, jpg or tif i could not get the layered file and i can not change the mascot.

Email he sent me.
Code:
Hello,

The original layered files are my intellectual property. I offer you, as
I pointed out in the very beginning, the image result in any format/size
you might ask, which implies that the work files will be retained as
author ownership. Please, understand that there's a work to be protected
here.

If you are in need of any format (TIF, JPG, GIF...) with any resolution
and size, you just ask. If it's mean to be printed, just tell me the
minimum resolution and file format that they ask for, and it will be yours.

Thanks for your understanding,

Daniel
Not the problem is what happens if i never hear from him and need it resized plus i cant change.

I think this is wrong i paid $75 for it what would you all do about it

Hello, it's "this guy" here

Well, I believe that the e-mail that he copied is already self-explanatory. Just a couple more things.

He forgot to mention that I also offered and did some services for free, including re-doing the logo he had.

He also could have asked for high resolution tiff files in case he needs to resize the whole header.

I offered a full-refund policy that he could have asked for in case he was unsatisfied with the results, but he preferred to get here to party, instead.

He could also have paid for reproduction/modification rights, which we never discussed, as I point out in the e-mail he copies.

I think I cover all the basis with this. It's situations like this one which makes freelancer's work way harder.

Thank you,

Daniel.

I would make sure that I knew what I was getting before I bought the service. It is not unreasonable for the designer to keep 'copyright' on the design.
Presumably you bought a mascot in an agreed format and that's what you got.

Couldn't have explained better myself. Thank you.

Just to end this, how does this work agin? I do some work you're completely satisfied with, then you demand with no education whatsoever that I grant you copyright rights, and when I respectfully decline and explain... you come here claiming that I scammed you. No professional discussion, no agreement can be made this way.

And now you keep on asking for services? You should have thought it twice before coming here and ruining things for any honest freelancer out there.

Just to keep things clear, I will be sending a high resolution file next week, just one, in order to allow you to resize your mascot. When done, we part ways and you stop messing around.

If you're not ok with this, I cant do much more.

We will be discussing that by the email next week, I'm not at home this week and consequently I'm unable to access my mail or my work files here.
