Vbulletin? UBB? MyBB? phpBB?
Hi,
I'm trying to decide which one of those are the best forum script to use:
http://www.vbulletin.com/
http://www.ubbcentral.com/
http://www.mybbcentral.com/
http://www.phpbb.com/
I don't mind paying and price is not an issue, I am looking for the most reliable with the most features and not so complicated to use hopefully.. but the most important is reliable and most features.
Please help me let me know.
Thank you so much!!

I've always used vBulletin mainly due to it's community and support. I've used phpBB back then when it was still version 2. For some reason I just didn't like the Admin CP for phpBB 3.
Both phpBB and vB are quality software though. Haven't heard of the other two unfortunately.

I recommend vBulletin and MyBB. You should first try playing around with MyBB before paying for vBulletin.

Stay AWAY from UBB Threads! They are only ideal for SMALL (Less than 20k members) forum based solutions and are not good for large forums at all.
Stick with vBulletin or IPB. They are both very well build forums.

Well, answer a few questions for me please.
1. What is your community going to be about?
2. Have you ever ran a community?
3. How big of a member base do you plan on having?
VBulletin has many modifications that can be installed, and is very friendly for admins.
PHPBB is a very good system for those starting out, and is free! It also has a lot of themes and mods as well.

If you are looking for a paid forum script, vBulletin is your best choice. If you can live with lesser features but stronger community support, go with SMF.

Thanks to everyone who responded!
I am currently using phpBB and looking to upgrade, I guess I will upgrade to Vbulletin
The only thing.. I hope with Vbulletin its possible to import the backup of phpBB so I don't loose all users and posts, I found some posts through google where people said its possible but Vbulletin did not make a mention of that in their list of features where they mention:
"Import Facility
Import facility - import posts and members seamlessly upgrade from other bulletin board systems, including Infopop's Ultimate Bulletin Board, UBBThreads, OpenTopic, ezboard, and Ikonboard"

Try checking out vBulletin's community forum and I believe there is such an import feature there.
