    Canadian Dedicated Provider

    Hi,
Can you give me some insights on some of the biggest Canadian dedicated server providers? I know iWeb is definitely one.

I am moving to Canada in a couple of months and are looking to secure a good career in one of Canada's top hosting/data center provider.

Are you looking to work remotely? The places I'm familiar with (or have previously worked for) don't really do that. There's a few here where I am (4 hours from vancouver) but can't say if they're hiring or not.

ServerTag is collocating servers in Colosseum and Teleglobe in Toronto thru Velcom.

Their network is solid, about hardware, support i don't know much.

    Thanks,

There is many, many more in Canada, some of them have their own DC, some don't, depends on what you are looking for.

If you don't care if company doesn't have their own DC, then there is many to chose from.

FYI, we are no longer with Velcom.

We are solely out of Colosseum now (direct) and the network there has been excellent.

Anyhow, the OP is looking for a job, not a company to buy or rent space from.

OP, do you have an idea *where* you would like to stay?

There are so many to choose from and it really depends on the location.

jrianto, what is bringing you to Canada? Were you originally from Canada?

I have Canadian parents (does that make me Canadian or almost-Canadian?), so I must ask.

You know that people only speak french in Quebec right.....

In my area (Kelowna, BC) there is Canada Web Hosting and RackForce. They're both actually in the same office tower. Canada Web Hosting doesn't operate their own DC though, they do like shared hosting and VPS solutions and support. There's Peer1 in Vancouver and probably many more but I can't think of them. You probably want to aim for BC, Alberta, or Ontario.

Well that's not true, Quebec is fairly bilingual. Especially Montreal, Quebec City less so. Most of small town Quebec is very French though, and Northern Quebec has a large Native population.

I meant that despite being our official second language, french is rarely seen spoken outside of Quebec.

The more relevant question is, what does the OP bring to the table? While Canada's population density is < 10% of the USA's, that doesn't mean we're short on people to do the work. Qualifications, and connections are going to be the name of the game here.

OP, what are your qualifications? Do you have a BA/Masters/etc? Have you worked in a data center before? What industry connections are going to get your foot in the door?
