    DNS problem - help!

    Hello

I was hoping someone could help me with this.

When I do a DNS check on one of my domains (http://www.intodns.com/acme.ie) I am getting the following error:

    Missing nameservers reported by parent
FAIL: The following nameservers are listed at your nameservers as nameservers for your domain, but are not listed at the parent nameservers (see RFC2181 5.4.1). You need to make sure that these nameservers are working. If they are not working ok, you may have problems!
    ns1.theplanet.host
    ns2.theplanet.host

Missing nameservers reported by your nameservers
ERROR: One or more of the nameservers listed at the parent servers are not listed as NS records at your nameservers. The problem NS records are:
    ns2.hostago.com
    ns1.hostago.com
This is listed as an ERROR because there are some cases where nasty problems can occur (if the TTLs vary from the NS records at the root servers and the NS records point to your own domain, for example).
Acme.ie is set up at the registrar to use ns1.hostago.com and ns2.hostago.com.

Does anyone know what files on my server I need to change to get rid of the reference to ns1.theplanet.host and ns2.theplanet.host? Doing a grep in /etc/httpd* and /etc/httpd/etc/* isn't finding any reference to ns1.theplanet.host or ns2.theplanet.host.

    Thanks!

you have to edit your /var/named file and /etc/named.conf file.

    Here is the example
your zone file should look like this

    cat acme.ie.db

    ; Zone file for acme.ie
    $TTL 14400
    @ 86400 IN SOA ns1.hostago.com. root.hostago.com (
    2009011500 ; serial, todays date+todays
    86400 ; refresh, seconds
    7200 ; retry, seconds
    3600000 ; expire, seconds
    86400 ) ; minimum, seconds

    acme.ie. 86400 IN NS ns1.hostago.com.
    acme.ie. 86400 IN NS ns2.hostago.com.

    acme.ie. IN A 174.123.158.171

    localhost.acme.ie. IN A 127.0.0.1

    acme.ie. IN MX 0 acme.ie.

    mail IN CNAME acme.ie.
    www IN CNAME acme.ie.
    ftp IN A 174.123.158.171
