Yeah what a dumb name. Did no one think before they chose a name? At first glance hosting con does indeed sound like a scam.

Why would it cost a lot... Isn't it just a conference... Obviously the company who is hosting the conference would have to pay and all but, yea... I don't understand why it costs a lot.
Maybe it doesn't cost a lot, how much would it cost to go to one of these things

Yes, however, it was more the text I was pointing the OP to
HostingCon is a trade show and computer conference for professionals in the web hosting, software as a service and hosted services industries. It is the largest event of its kind in the world, bringing together industry professionals to learn about the latest advances in related technology, business processes and marketing techniques. The event also represents a great opportunity to network with other industry professionals and representatives from all the major industry vendors and media.Alasdair

It seams that they have something to say in their seminars. It could be interesting for people working in web hosting industry but not for regular clients as most of us.

It's pretty fun for all, those heavily involved in the industry are generally busy every minute of each day with exhibition, networking, and so on. The clients seem to have fun visiting the vendors, seeing the technology that is being offered, and also networking.
The best part for clients is that you all have time to go out and party, like at the Netdepot VIP party we missed this year

We were lucky enough to make it out to the very first 2 HostingCon events. Although we have not made it out to the past 3 years, we hope to get back on board soon.
