CS:S server


Ok well i got my css server running on my linux vps , installed etc, Now i need to how where i can upload a map to , as i carnt find it on file manager , wheni go on putty i just do "cd srcds" But where is that folder located so i can acces it via filemanager?

/home/YOUR_SSH_USERNAME/srcds/

assuming you are running this under your user (you're dropped in $HOME on login, and you say you only do 'cd srcds')

are you logging in as root when all you have to do is cd "foldername"?

if thats the case its not good cause on reboot that folder would be deleted.

what are you using for a filemanager? i use winscp and you just go through the folders like you normally would.

Ok when im in putty if i went to cd srcds , then i can go cd maps , then wget and map link ? , then i just change the map?

go to maps directory

wget it (make sure this is a real map file, not one of those redirecty links or whatever, you don't want a mapfile named download.php)

changelevel should work

Whats the name of map folder?
When im in the srcds folder i do cd maps , no luck?

while you're in the srcds folder, do 'ls' and paste it here

or

cd hl2/maps

probably one of them - I don't game much

They should be in the home directory. Did you use that walkthru from the steam forums? It tells you where you are installing. My guess would be /home/srcds
