Can anyone explain a little about http requests on the same server / local network / internet function?
Here's my query:
Can you confirm, if two sites (and their files) exist on a single server,
how far towards the internet (server, local network, internet) does an http request from one to the other go before being redirected back?
What about if they are on two different servers within the same data center?
I am looking at how safe unsecure http requests are between sites hosted in the same place.
First of all single request determines destination ip-address by doing simple nslookup, so after that data is send to that destination ip, if it is the same server than no external connects are made. However you can use some secure protocols like VPN to send data between servers (for sites it will be more complicated), also please describe your needs a little more.
