    Customer Management Software?

    Hi everyone! *waves*

I've been out of the hosting industry for the past 3 years or so now, and onto new projects, including several SAAS applications.

We're at the point where we're going to be making several concerted sales and marketing efforts, but right now, our procedures and customer management system exists of my business partner and I playing email & phone tag with clients.

Can anyone lend any experience, or recommendations to where I can look?

We have multiple brands/services that we offer, and having a way to track and cross-sell services would be great. The applications are written by our in-house development team, and while my devs are excellent programmers, I'd rather have them focusing their efforts on the applications, and not have to write our own back-end system for customer management, billing, and commissions.

I very much need to be able to automate our billing and commission systems, where we simply push a button, the system builds the reports, we approve the report and cut the checks to our clients.

(To give you an idea of the flow)
Client pays us $50/mo to use our system.
Client has 25 users purchase access for $10/ea during the month, generating $250 in revenue.
We handle all CC transactions and billing related issues for the end users, and charge 10% of revenue.

    So the end bill is:
$250 revenue generated by client's users
    -$25 10% fee
    -$50 monthly fee
= $175 check we pay to client.

If there isn't enough revenue to overcome the monthly fee, we send the client a bill instead of a commission.

There are several other revenue sources and revshare percentages involved in the mix...

I've been looking at sugarcrm to handle a sales/marketing process, and ubersmith as customer billing & support... but I kind of feel like I'm floundering here, I know what I want/need, but I don't know how to get it short of spending the next 6-9 months building one in house.

If you are looking for any kind of CRM system, I would have to recommend NetSuite. http://www.netsuite.com/portal/home.shtml

They have excellent ecommerce software, ERP and CRM. It is pricey though. Somewhere around $1500 per year per user I believe.

An in-house solution (e.g. programmed) may make some sense. It could be more economical than commercial software given your requirements.

    Good luck!
