I'd recommend Drupal, Joomla and Mambo.

    Cheers!

I don't know why I have never been able to understand Joomla while I'm pretty good at Drupal.

Drupal and joomla are probably the most developed when it comes to open source Cms's. I also like modx, typepad and wordpress.

Easiest CMS for beginners is Wordpress and it comes with many free themes...

    Joomla for community driven sites

    Magento for Ecommerce

...if you plan on expanding in the future with new features then I would go with ModxCMS. I've tried them all and Modx is a fantastic CMS... just released version 1.0 and it's going to be taking off ... Ajax features, full control over page designs (no template restrictions), internal SEO built in....

I think WordPress is among the best. If you can read you can use WordPress. No XHTML / CSS or PHP skills needed.

Joomla for me is the best opensource CMS solution. After Joomla Wordpress is also a good solution.

I prefer joomla as I find it the easiest to create new themes with. Also the range of extensions is phenomenal, and its very easy to integrate other php apps into it (i.e I have SMF integrated into my currant joomla website)

There are hundreds or even thousands of cms tools available for free and paid. But you can try joomla or drupal.

I'd add my vote to Wordpress, they have a complete guide on using wordpress via codex.wordpress.org and is one of the most flexible CMS around.
