    Name.com little issues

Hi, I need some help from people that have domain at Name.com, I should contact them directly but I have decided to try to solve my little issues here.

How do I point correct name servers in my control panel? To manage DNS and Google Aps, name.com ask me to change the name servers to ns1.name.com, ns2.name.com, ns3.name.com and ns4.name.com. But my name server are nsxx.hostgator.com and nsyy.hostgator.com.

And what are the A records for in the DNS configuration? It has 3 ip from Google.

Shouldn't I put only these MX registries below without the 3 A records?

    1 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    5 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    5 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    10 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.
    10 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.

Please, explain better because I don't understand very well english!

The domain name was registered with a Enom reseller, when was there I could put my web host name server and change the DNS records without changing the name server to Enom name server. I have just transfered this domain name to name.com, and I don't know why they ask me to change ns to ns1.name.com, ... , ns4.name.com.

Formerly, I was able to use my web host name servers with Google email, now either I use Google email or point my ns to my website. This is very strange!

Does somebody knows how to configure my DNS to use both website pointing and Google email?

Is Namecheap as strange as Name? I'm thinking seriously to change to Namecheap because I have more 5 domains to transfer.

    Celular,

Kindly check with Name.com as they provide you to manage DNS Records or not.

if they allow then do following:

    1) Get Hosting Server IP from your Hosting Provider

in name.com Control Panel / Account Management set as follow:

    yourdomain.com <A Record> <Your Hosting Account IP>
    www.yourdomain.com <CNAME Record> yourdomain.com
    www.yourdomain.com <MX Record> 1 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    www.yourdomain.com <MX Record> 5 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    www.yourdomain.com <MX Record> 5 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    www.yourdomain.com <MX Record> 10 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.
    www.yourdomain.com <MX Record> 10 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.

    that's it.

your site and mail will work.

I know that Name.com requires your domain to be pointed to their nameservers like NS1-NS4.NAME.COM before you can configure your DNS records. Otherwise you would have to edit the DNS records wherever your domain is currently pointed to.

Well, I am waiting here to DNS changes to work here... Does somebody is having problem with the whois tool? I turned on the whois guard yesterday but up to now the information is not changing in the name.com whois tool. I have looked with another whois tool, all them are showing the updated whois information but only with the name.com whois tool is out dated. It's a little annoying since my last registrar changes the information instantly.

    Hi, thx it worked.

But there is no problem in having only 1 ip in the A record? Because if I put my hostgator name servers I have 2 against only 1 ip.

Do you know what are the advantages or disadvantages that I have when I change my name server to name.com name server?

Because I don't understand why name.com ask us to change our name server to their name server.

    Thx.

Name.com ask you to change NS because you want to modify MX records for your Domain, if hostgator allowes you then do in their CP then don't change NS and do it in their CP insted of name.com

You can specify N Number of IP for A Records.

for this create multiple A Records for same domain name pointing to different IPs.

Because I like WHT? This is a helpful forum?

Anyway I sent an email to name.com awhile, I am just waiting their answer. I hope their answer to be informative enough.
