    VPS Or Dedicated

    Hello,

I am on a reseller at the moment. I am curious whether I should jump to dedicated or go with a VPS. Dedicated servers give you alot more for your money rather then a VPS. I have searched for hosts and I need at least 1 TB of bandwidth and at least 100 GBs of space. However VPSs for those are $100 a month. While to get a dedicated server its around $200 a month. Should I upgrarde my reseller for a bit to make more money then jump to dedicated?

    Thanks,
    Depeche

You can get a dedicated server with more than 100 GB space and 1TB BW for $100 or even less than that.

Do you require any control panel for your website?

Yes I need cPanel/WHM as well as WHMCS.

If I were to get a dedicated I would start with Quad Core + 8 GBs of RAM and cPanel and WHMCS.

Check out the dedicated server offers. I see alot of servers there that you can get with cpanel for less than $99. You can get WHMCS directly from WHMCS for $18.95 or something. But untimately you can find all of these three for about $100.

I would recommend going with a dedicated server more buck for your money, and i also recommend getting your license directly from WHMCS.

I would say get it from license pal. You save a few bucks and still get support from whmcs.

I would stay on the reseller all the way to it's last limits. After which point, have a scope around and see if a VPS can handle the amount of sites you are hosting (Which it probably can) and then see what your options are.

You could get a nice cPanel Hybrid VPS from WiredTree as it goes.

    Good Luck!

You need a good VPS provider with a good storage, RAID10. When you have problems with your VPS you can use the console then. If you have problems on a dedicated server you need to contact your host and they need to fix it in the datacenter.

Obviously a big factor in your decision is how resource-intensive the sites are. If you're going to burn through CPU cycles and you're constantly using a lot of RAM then a VPS won't last long for you.
There's also another factor: are you going to move all the sites or are you just planning on putting new sites on the VPS or dedicated server? If you're moving them then remember that to move to a VPS then to a dedicated server will involve a lot more work and will double the risk of a move going bad.

Personally, I would vote for a dedicated server mainly because it gives you so much more room to grow without needing to move again in the near future.
