    Dedicated Server Split

    Hello,

Me and a friend of mine were thinking about ordering a dedicated server and splitting it. However we want different OS's. Is it possible to split 50% resources like on VPSs and get our own choice of OS?

    Thanks,
    Alex

Use Xen, it can be tricky, or VMware ESXi(never used)

You can use either xen or kvm to split the server and get equal resources. it can be done on openvz but it doesn't act like a true dedicated server.

What operating systems are you wanting to use?

I want CentOS he wants Windows Server 2008. ;( So we thought it would be better of getting a dedicated server and splitting it instead of getting VPSs.

You can use xen or kvm to split your dedicated server into a centos and a windows server 2008.

    VPS is your solution

If you want windows there is a Xen hack to let you install windows on Xen.

You've seriously got to be joking. Haha, you must, this made my day. QFT.

Xen can do that natively if you didn't know
