I agree, if you are looking for cheap, you might end up with a bad experiance.

would be better to get a high end VPS then a cheap dedicted server from an unknown company.

talkman, sorry my friend but still don't agree with you.

Anyway, i would recommend you check Dedicated Hosting Offer section, there is couple new, and i think there is some up to price you are looking for.

Also, if something catches your eye, you may search for reviews, or ask here.

    Thanks,

You should not eliminate all other hardware brands other than Dell.

Half of the offers in the Dedicated Offers forum here at WHT will meet those spec requirements...

You could try KimSufi but they're run by OVH in the EU and I've heard some bad things about them... That was a while back though.

Why does it have to be a Dell server? Are you expecting any sort of management?

    Cheapest that I know of:
    https://www.burst.net/
    http://www.cpctechnology.com/

Check out the offers sub-forum as well:

As for the two ice creams, if you are on a tight budget and don't really know where to start. That's still $120 more for that first year, that's an extra months server payment at a cheaper rate.

    See what tickles your fancy,

Well, I am Dell fan I have used dell servers for years with complete satisfaction
I used HP also, but no harm to any one, I simply love Dell servers

I don't think they offer dell servers, do they? The OP specifically mentioned it has to be dell

    OP,
This may be your best bet from accuratehub

Hostingamerica has a good deal on a Dell 850. Not the processor you want but plenty of ram and bandwidth.

I'm also curious as to why you're limiting your search to Dell hardware? I've seen quite a lot of people around here swear by Supermicro's products...

You can check out caro.net closeouts.

Can't go wrong with a Dell, some people prefer to stay with a brand, its called brand loyalty, but cant go wrong with a with a proven product like Supermicro.

    Just noticed that to ems,

Yea that doesn't look to good when your home page is showing that you have network problems. Never owned one of their boxes but talked to the owner and he offered competitive prices. But not good if you box is down with network problems.

Try contacting joesdatacenter and see if they could set you up. They use dell and have great pricing.

I have a mix of Supermicro, Dell, some HP's on the way and a couple of Gigabyte servers. The only ones I won't let my clients use are the Gigabyte ones, they are picky little buggers at times. I just tinker on those ones, i guess they could be considered 'dev boxes.'

With dell, you are just paying more money, when the lesser marketed supermicro can do the same or better for less money.

I know Layered Tech has good prices, they use to be Dell but I think they just switched to HP. So with there sale section, they probably still have some Dell's left.

Heh, you're very quick off the mark! I was just about to post the same having got in trouble for posting an announcement of the lowenddedi site about two weeks ago. I still haven't even reached the five post minimum yet.

I would personally say that how a company performs with its very cheapest servers says a lot about that company overall even at its highest end. If a company is charging US$50/month or more for Netburst era hardware then they are automatically ripping off their customers. The very minimum for that price range should be a Celeron D 220 which is Core1 technology (and is three times more powerful per clock than Netburst). I wouldn't go quite as far as HostMDS who will rent you a PIII dedicated server for $8/month though.

Regarding wanting Dell for reliability, if you really need reliability then you want lots of geographically distributed servers with plenty of redundancy. I would personally rate that far higher than using specific hardware brands. Equally network quality is often underrated when choosing a server - it is tough to assess though. Put it this way: I wouldn't try hosting an Australian site in India whose connection has some of the worst ping times anywhere in the world.

    HTH,
    Niall
