Yea well I have my custom forum software on there, and.. like I made some mod's that i've spent alot of time on and Then they went down, for 3days so I kissed ass to get my files back, and Now THE APACHE is up but mysql still down but there will be ok, I have faith in them and I love my server because It's so fast compared to other hosts I had in the past, maybe because I have a custom forum software and I don't use all the bloated queries like IPB,Vbulletin,PHPBB3.. etc

MySQL is up, phpMyAdmin via cPanel is not working. currently there is some config / system problems with the vps. Like I stated in the other thread we are trying to plan our migration to a newly built vps to minimize downtime and that way we have a 100% working system again. cPanel is a pain to backup from one server to another.

monkuar, definitely keep your own backups.

This is exactly why customers should also keep their own backups. Even with a brilliant host, it's always best to keep backups.

Really nice to see you are happy now and every thing came almost back on track. And as some body said you are one of the real patient customer any hosting company would like to deal with. Your host also should understand that and keep their services up to your expectation.

It is really nice to have a customer like you.
We hosters also do not want server downtime to lay down customer's sites.
    You know,some unforeseen peoblems.
And I think timely and nice communication with baup-up been made would let the loss least!

I've had pissed off clients that are just mean and nasty for 30 minutes of unscheduled downtime. Where can I find more with your attitude toward downtime.

At any rate, I'm glad they got things sorted out for themselves and their clients. Hopefully it will be a learning experience to keep things more solid in the future.

I'll pay you to be my customer! Come on, how much? Name your price!

    Only kidding

It's a very rare occasion to find a client that is very patient especially for 48 hours downtime.

You're lucky, we had a client flip out on us because he got disconnected from live chat.

Agreed. Transferring from cPanel to cPanel couldn't be simpler and fixing your current server would be even easier than that.

Instead of moving to a fresh server, learn how to fix your current one.

Some clients are just not worth keeping unfortunately.

It seems to be more common with younger people though, always expecting something for nothing. I prefer dealing with older people who understand a bit better how to treat human beings. Keeping in mind that that is not a 100% guarantee either. Oh well, you do the best with what you have.

Wish it was that easy. When copying from server to server in the control panel software it kept having an error; So I tarred the /vz/private/$VEID directory, scp it over, and restored the directory in place of a new VPS. And must have been a permissions error but the vps would start without any services, not networking, nothing, and just 2 MB memory usage. Had to manually start every service. This was a good temporary fix, except the phpMyAdmin not connecting. So all-in-all it was a good deal to transfer to a new VE. Had to go through each reseller in "Reseller Center" to set the dedicated IPs for the resellers with them, as well as the main ip for all other resellers (since we have the main shared ip seperate from the main main ip that the cpanel is licensed to. This is because occasionally we get our IP banned by our provider due to spam complaints from shared accounts which is hard to monitor until we get a complaint, so instead of having to change our license ip all the time, we just use a different ip for shared accounts, and the main server ip).

Just glad that everything is back up and running. All accounts of course, were 100% in-tact. Had a couple cancellations (which are understood as I would be a little impatient in the same situation), which of course are difficult for business, our reputation is of course hurt by this incident, but all in all, I learned a few tips and tricks when it came to migrating from server to server, and am positive we can prevent this from happening again.

We are also very thankful for our customers patience and understanding. It means a lot for business when says a lot about a persons integrity when they are willing to stick through an outage. Kind of brings to mind the folks of New Orleans during and after hurricane Katrina.

We also going to be upgrading our server from Dual Dual AMD Opteron 2218, to Dual Quad Core AMD Opteron 2360.
That is from 4 cores @ 2.6 Ghz upgraded to 8 cores @ 2.5 Ghz.
Almost doubles our performance. I am pretty excited myself, and I am glad we are back on track after this issue.

Well good news and bad news. But from an outside standpoint, probably only bad news.

One of our providers providers (a cross connect provider) surprised us today and is going to no longer be providing us the IPs that about half of our VPS are on, and the main IP of our nodes leaving all servers and VPS un-connectible for the current time.

The good news is, our other netblock is still connectible (to those servers whos main ip is not in the old netblock) and we are going to be getting more of these ips to make up for the ones we are losing with the old provider.

Will keep you guys posted. This affects all of our clients currently and we already are upset with our provider surprising us like this, as it is so soon after our last downtime (which wasn't their fault). We expect this to all happen today, at least I sure would hope so.

I've seen a lot of complaining going on about cubichost, and to be honest I feel kind of sorry for them. They have been fighting to gain a name for themselves and kept their end of the deal up just to be brought down by the data-center. I for a fact know that they aren't going anywhere soon and will be here to assist them if needed in anyway. I would hate to see a good host lose clients for a mistake made by others.

Thank you for the comment. You are right, when it comes to having a problem with a provider that is affecting us very directly, and its out of our control, we can do nothing but sit back and watch as our reputation is being killed by it. I personally have a great skillset when it comes to server management. Overall just being able to figure things out whether its something I already know or not, just picking up new techniques this way. I then try to make something of this skillset, hence cubichost.org, and it is going okay, other than these problems that come up. All in all, I think we will be better off after we migrate these IPs. I couldnt imagine any other problems of this scale arising (But then again I didnt see this one coming neither.)

Well so far some good news. We reassigned the main ip of our vps nodes to a working netblock, so about half of our VPS clients are back in business, waiting on additional allocations in this block to get the remainder back online as well as our website. Hopefully this will be within the next 4 to 6 hours. At most 12 to 24 hours although I dont see this being likely. Stay tuned!

Agreed. Hopefully they can get these issues resolved soon and continue providing good service to their clients. They definitely have potential and a desire to satisfy, and certainly deserve some understanding and a second chance.

Well put. I think this is could be considered a test of how loyal and put together the company is. If they can make it through this and get climb back up they will prove a loyal company.

I'm relatively happy being with Cubichost. Granted I'm not running any mission critical stuff, the downtime does suck but it was to be expected from a starting business (anything can happen). When the servers are up though, I've enjoyed the performance and speed I didn't with my old hosts. Once things smooth out and they build up their client base I want to move up to their higher-spec dedicated servers but time will tell.

Just waiting on the IP stuff to be dealt with.

I think that one of the main problems for many (myself included) is not knowing what's going on, and having no easy way to find out when even their own company presence is down for extended periods. Posting/reading here is fine (and very helpful), but when things are happening this fast/often not everyone has the time to keep scanning the forum. I suggest CH keep a local database of client emails and send out updated "form" letters from time to time when such major problems occur. This doesn't apply only to CH, BTW.

They used to post very quickly on Twitter atleast but it hasn't updated since they fixed the hardware issues or with their current IP netblock problem.

Good info on twitter Mikeablah, but as you say, no recent update that I can find. If it was updated a couple of times a day during major outages (like this) that would help. BTW, looks like the whole thing is down yet again today (and was last night when I tried to access). Sigh...... Hard to imagine a DC that can't do better than that.

Great news, Woke up this morning to find an email with our new allocations. Changing ips right now this might take a minute to go through all the VPS and give them the new addresses, cubichost.org should be up within an hour, depending on dns propagation.

You should receive emails shortly with the new IPs, again sorry for the delay.

Shared and reseller is hosted on a vps. We are bringing that up right now, have to change all dns records. DNS could take time to propagate depending on your povider.

We keep the shared and reseller in a VE. This helps make migrating simple, upgrading / moving to new server easy, as well as OS rebuilds easy (and glad we do because the problem last time would have been horrible to try to fix on an actual dedicated without a KVM over IP switch) it makes the need for remote hands non-existent, or very minimal in rare occasions.

Leave them a ticket if it's still down, they fixed me up quick after I sent a ticket.
