My comparison was a basic architecture comparison, to get some clock-to-clock numbers and I specifically stated they weren't specifically applicable. You're the one who stated, "the i7 920 would beat the dual Quad 2356 barcelonas by roughly 20% or so." You're the one who made the claim, not me. I'm asking you to back up your claim, and so far you have not demonstrated any such improvement. Also, correct, there is no industry specific benchmark that accurately compares the two, you have not found one, I have not found one.

In those web2005 results, I'm not even seeing a single i7 processor listed, so how are you making a comparison? If there was a comparison there though that would be reasonable.

Well, Karl: you can stay in your state of denial. This argument is over. I won't respond to this thread again.

How am I in a state of denial? WHat am I denying? I am simply acting you to back up your claims.

You said, "Look at those results especially those by HP. Clock for clock, Nehalem based cores beat Shanghai based cores by 80%+." I asked you to point that out. Please point it out, as I see no such comparison. The closest thing I see is comparing 32GB + 160GB SATA drive with 96GB + 54 15k RPM SAS drives. You keep making blanket statements with nothing to back them, I ask you to back them and you complain about my response...

I could agree with a statement such as, there is no head-to-head competition between these processors so it would hard to say for certain and my depend on your exact use, but saying "Clock for clock, Nehalem based cores beat Shanghai based cores by 80%+" does not seem believeable and has not been backed up by any evidence.
