As far as I'm aware, your host will have to purchase and install it on their server. Perhaps you can ask them to do so and they will agree if you pay for it.

+1 for your host being responsible for fantastico. If they are running cPanel I don't see how it would be difficult to run.

About this do you think hes going to lose money and help out the clients on his server provider because he going to pay for the software and then the provider will provide it for other clients, id say transfer hosts.

Fantastico has become standard to many cPanel providers now. Perhaps your current provider ran into some technical issues with licensing or installing it on the node? Have you been able to find out exactly why they're unable to provide it for you?

Exactly. Seems they realy aren't as big as they seem. I don't remember the last time I saw a cPanel host that did not offer Fantastico.

Maybe they're afraid of all the one click installs of out of date versions of software that Fantastico provides. Also, lots of people play around installing these programs, never use them but leave them up begging to be exploited.

I am not a host in the real sense but I have a server with a few of my design clients hosted on it. I do have Fantastico available but none of them even know how to get to Cpanel. If I had clients that would use it, I would disable it for the reasons stated above.

Maybe https://www.simplescripts.com/ can be a workaround/alternative. It seems to be available for resellers too, not just hosts that manage the server themselves. Anyway, worth at least an inquiry perhaps.

or installatron (haven't tried simplescripts yet) - having one or the other would help but if you specifically want fantastico, you could ask your host and see if they will install it if you pay for the license (less than $5 in most places) - other than that, you can get a VPS and do whatever you want there. of course it's more pricey, but it's worth it in this type of situations.

You can not install fantastico unless you have root access to the server so its better you ask them to provide fantastico.

Not to derail the thread at all, but how often do they update Softaculous? One thing Fantastico lacks is updates, plus the recent price hike.

    Hi!
It seems to me your only option is to move your clients. I know that's an ugly mess (just went through one) but i don't see any alternatives.

Yeah Fantastico basically got rid of their reseller program. We have also started recommending Softaculous to our customers instead of Fantastico and everyone has been happy.

Well in my post above I mentioned its free, but just found that they have started offering premium license too, free license is still there though with fewer (58) scripts. Check pricing details at http://www.softaculous.com/pricing

Still cheaper and better than Fantastico.

    Hello All,
In my opinion, all hosts should install a "One-Click" script installer. This has become an industry standard. If your host refuses to install one, please think about re-locating.
