Hi WHT members,

I had just experienced worst web hosting provider ever.

It's HostLatch.net .

I got free review master reseller account from them few months ago on Digital point forum. Had frequent downtime every month. but i didn't care that much and not complained about that. just 2 week ago i created a cpanel hosting account for my blog site with just 1 post in it and 1 plugin (All in one seo). the site was running fine. just 3-4 days ago the site got suspended by root. reason written "High CPU usage"

I was like.. how in the world a simple wordpress blog with just one post and one plugin can make a server cpu high. later i opened a ticket on there whmcs. the tech staff told me " I've unsuspended you, but if you cause high CPU usage again, you won't be unsuspended. "

ok fine. i was sure this can't be true that my blog site can make the cpu high. i have hosted with many provider before i had no issue like this before. atleast with a wordpress blog site with one post in it.

just after one day i got suspended again. reason written " High CPU Usage"

i replied to the ticket again about the issue. the admin Adam's reply was this:

Oh, it won't be unsuspended again, it caused the server to crash 3 times yesterday morning.

thn i asked them what kind of server do u use that make ur server crash with a simple wordpress blog with one post. i said that i think u are making some mistake with it. i also asked to give backup of my site with db so i will move my blog to my vps.

later i got replied with a screenshot that it was causing cpu high load and told me that they wont give me the backup of my site.

Later i asked them again to give backup of my site.

They just simple invoiced me $10 as a fee to get the backup.

I was like WTF. i thn replied them how in the world you can blackmail like that. You guys dont have any legal rights to keep my site files, this is totally a scam.

they replied me with non sense reason:

Considering you have a FREE account with us, and caused us 4 hours of global downtime, you won't be given the backup for free.

first they told me it was causing high cpu and now they are giving me reason that it caused 4 hr to downtime.

i then replied with this:

i got the account free for review on your thread on dp when u first started your company and i did gave positive review but i was wrong and u guys are blackmailing me with such stupid reason. there was no term written that getting a backup would cost me $10. i was the first client of yours and you guys just showed you real face. i will not let you go like this. i want my backup asap

reply i got is : No can do

i told them that either give a backup of my site file or i will take legal actions against there company.

HostLatch.net is the worst hosting provider i have been with. they will simply suspend you and wont give your site files. they are such a scammer and a fraud web hoster.

I just hate them i lost my blog site files which was my very hard work. I have spent nights on design of that blog. now i lost every thing my site, my traffic, my google index.

I have seen them providing vps and hosting account on DP and WHT. I will suggest not to host with them. they will show there real face after few weeks. They are simple Scammer, Fraud and worst hosting provider with a lot of downtime. just check there site design http://hostlatch.net looks like a 15 year old kid designed it with incomplete links. again Think one more time before hosting with them.

Guys Please suggest me what legal steps i can take against them on my issue. should i file a case on IC3.gov (FBI) or just get a lawyer (My friend is a trainee lawyer)???

Yeah, no point in taking legal action when you aren't likely to get anything out of it.

but there should be a way to get my site files. i still have the master reseller account access. but i can't unsuspend the domain as i get error message : the domain is locked by root.

After their impossibly awesome VPS special they had on DP, I've been waiting for this to happen. Sorry it had to be you. Just a general observation, it seems like DigitalPoint is a bad place to go if you are looking for reliable hosting.

techlacky, there's really nothing you can do. Because there is not a large amount of money in play here, any legal action you take using a lawyer will end up costing you a lot of money - which you will not recoup. I would just learn the lesson and move on. You've warned the Web community, which is about all that can be done. Oh, I'd post your review on DP, too, if you haven't already!

Nope i haven't posted on dp yet. would be very happy if you post it.

i am totally out of my mind now. my forum site which was under my master reseller was also got suspended. reason: high cpu load.

i am sure they are playing with me just to get some $$ for me. such a looser. shehhh

That would be part of the issue "Master Reseller", If you require Reseller Hosting why not just get a general service rather than something that is offering you "Unlimited"?

Obviously they are overselling!

Did Hostlatch give you anymore information on what was causing the HIGH CPU, Generally a host will work with the client to resolve the issue or fix a script etc if it is out of date etc.

Considering we allow 20% on a quad core, which is a lot of CPU usage and you broke our terms of service by continuously using 65% to 375%.
This might be due that he pushes terabytes upon terabytes, upon terabytes of bandwidth - no we didn't suspend him because of that we have an unmetered lines but maybe with that many people on his site it might cause the huge amount of CPU usage.


If the customer gives us the permission, we will be more than happy to show a screenshot of proof that his domain was abusing resources.

We are not scammers, we aren't fraud, and we are not the worst hosting company. We've been in the business to the public for about 7 months and we are here to stay.

He has a FREE master reseller from us when we were having a special, our VPS's are totally different and they can utilize more CPU. He was using all-in-one SEO pack for wordpress which uses a lot of CPU unless you optimize wordpress and/or the plugin.

Considering that both of you are shared hosting providers as well, what would you do if a customer was using 65-375% of your server's CPU that other customer's share as well?

I'm pretty sure you would suspend them too.

Wordpress plugins alone can use a lot of CPU usage, depending on the plugin.
