How many hosting clients do you have?

I saw the thread "How much time do you put in" and I was astonished at the amount of time people are putting into their business.

So I would like to ask those of you putting in more than an hour or two a day: How many hosting clients do you have?

I guess this is not a question people are willing to answer sure you can ask how many domains they host and you might get an answer

    Hostgator - 2,200,000
    1and1 - 7,000,000
    Aspirationhosting - 1,000

Your only 2 million clients off for HostGator....

As for 1and1, they have 7 million domains registered, not 7 million clients registered.

They probably have about 2 million clients give or take.
Not sure what to put here :-P

I thought it might be a touchy subject. We have around 150 hosting clients.

I guess if I had the number of clients (or domains) that hostgator or 1&1 have I would hire a few more people to handle the day to day issues.

I wasn't trying to be nosy, I just saw the amount of effort being poured into the businesses and I was thinking "Do you ever get to go to the beach?"

The beach does not exist in this business, at least not when starting out.

Being a web hosting firm is much harder than most people would expect. Customer service and support is actually playing quite a vital role when one comes to think of the ever growing (or declining) number of clients and/or domains. This means, that doing your best to input 12-14 hours a day into the inauguration of your web hosting business in its dawn seems to be never enough. You cannot stop thinking about how active you should be in order to keep your current customer quote, especially when you are in the very first period of your firm. Not the beach, not the cinema or even the mall seems close enough when you have all this in mind. In this sense, small, medium-sized and large web hosting companies are not exactly on the same page when comparing the number of customers or domains one company has.

Now if you take a loot at its life-span compared to the number of active accounts, that sounds like a different thing. Now, think about customer service once again.

To be honest, I don't have more then 100 customers, I will by the end of the year I hope, but with most of my customers being local, the pay checks are much higher then a worldwide client.

Thanks, Guys. I appreciate your candor.

Our client base is small but once they are up and running they don't call much. So I was just wondering why everyone seems to be glued to the tube.

    Hey Mooseweb

When's the last time you saw a moose running around in FL?

My Bro-in-law lives in Maine. They get plenty of them up there!

    HD

You know, your handle is mooseweb and you're located in FL!? Just wondering where the Moose part fits.

And all of a sudden the thread takes a screaming left turn. Not sure what this has to do with hosting but it's Friday.

EVERYONE in FL is from somewhere else (it seems).

I had to ask about the Moose name. Like I said it's Friday, time to chill and plan some time AWAY from the screen.

If you're NOT glued to the screen all day, and you have happy clients, then good job! I'm with you, I'm not about to sink my ENTIRE day, everyday, into my business. I used to do that and then I had kids.

I can say I get more work done now in a few short hours then I would working "all day" when we first started. I enjoy my business more when I work less.

Don't get me wrong, I'm constantly viewing the admin area, client responses, etc all day long on my iPhone but that's a hobby. Not work

Thanks to the people sharing client count details. Makes the thread more interesting to read.
