I just switched from rackshack and my server is down.. I told my customers it would be better (One thing that made me switch was the 10 ips, FreeBSD, 500 GB of transfer). Now they were very helpfull when I called and hope they'll do something about that.
Not really, I have the $99/mo servers so I'm not really paying less (Maybe $5 less because they don't charge any Taxes for Texas). I liked rackshack except I hate redhat so I hope UCG fix this because I won't tolerate that kind of downtime that lasts more then 5 mins.
RACKSHACK IF YOU READ THIS YOU NEED TO PROVIDE FREEBSD SERVERS OR YOU'LL LOSE CUSTOMERS LIKE ME ! (You probably don't care anyway since you're selling servers anyway) but that could boost sales
I mailed united colo about the down time. This is their reply:
Dear Valued Customer,
Our sincere apology for the downtime this morning. We had sustained another DDoS attack against our network which lasted approximately 3 hours. The source IP as well as its associated IP range have been null routed to prevent repeated occurrences. A preliminary reports from our engineering team indicated that 1 or 2 servers within our networks may have participated willingly in this attack. We are currently reviewing the logs and these aforementioned servers will be removed immediately upon confirmation.
Your patience and continuing support are greatly appreciated. Downtime reimbursement for this incident will be applied to your account next billing date.

There's not much that compares to that from our side of the sea.

That's probably because they are West Coast USA. They are generally stable (at least they have been in my 2 weeks). I always seem to get the full 10 MBIT of my 10MBIT port and pings are good. I'm justabout going to setup uptime monitoring, so you can ask me about that in a few weeks time

You'd better drop that CD-R before I shoot you !!!
I've been with them since the beginning (about 3 months), they did have a lot of downtime but has improved tremendously. Support is good to as they always responded to my email promptly. And when they do have downtime, THEY REIMBURSE YOU! That's rare as I had all my servers with RackShack and they NEVER would reimburse me for anything even when it was their fault!
All in All, I'm pleased and hope they stick it out for a long time!
