Question Dedicated Hosts that offer Clustering

Which dedicated web hosts offer Clustering? Clustering is purchasing 2 or more dedicated servers and connecting them together using a load balancer which gives you more CPU power.

Here are some dedicated hosts that do NOT have any mention of clustering on their website:

    10tb.com
    fdcservers.net

If you know a dedicated host that offers clustering, how much does it cost?

There are alot of providers that offer that service. Check the offers forum. Do you have a geographic preference?

All providers that operate their own DC should be able to provide you with your requirement. But depends on your requirements obviously.

Here are some dedicated hosts that do NOT have any mention of clustering on their website:

    10tb.com
    fdcservers.net
Did you try contacting them by email or live chat?

Just mail a few providers you like doing business with. It's not because they don't mention it on their site that they don't offer it.

Ryan I am sure that you will find many hosts with no mentioning of clustering on their website. However, I doubt that you will find any that does not enable you to cluster servers. I know that 10tb.com (that you listed above) does and we have many clients that do cluster their servers.

Clustering is a bespoke service, so tends to be something you'll have to enquire about.

Right. Clustering depends on what you want to cluster. You'll probably need to setup DRBD / Heartbeat or something else.

Don't need to own a DC to provide clustering systems Even a good server reseller can do, if they have experienced admins and have good relation with datacenter.

Sure it's nice to have your own data center, but a top pre sale technical support staff can make sure that your account is properly set up.

There are many hosts who offer Server Clustering solutions however not all of those hosts advertise such setups on their websites. There are various types of server clusters and these are usually customized as per customer's requirements which could be the reason for not mentioning all of those on their website.

If they do not offer it on their website, then its probably not something they specialize in - though I agree, any good provider can probably set this up.

Worth noting however, to do clustering properly, alot of network side considerations need to come into play. You can also save money by going with a provider that has environments setup for this. You can for example share high end load balancers, vs getting your own lower end ones for example (and its often cheaper to share the load balancers). You can also share SANs for centralized storage of the load balanced nodes data - vs dealing with rsynch'ing data, etc.. theres A LOT of considerations when thinking about load balancing and advanced clustering.. Depending on why you are clustering, you can also look to accomplish this with VPS instances to further reduce costs and better utilize and allocate your resources.

there are different types of clusters and they do depend on the application that you want to cluster and OS adn amount of data, etc.
The simplest one - put load balancer in front of two servers
You can do heart bit and virtual IP
you can do shared storage (could be a challenge, btw)
for data bases you can do master/slave, master/master and bunch of other configs.
You can do VPS based high availability.

Probably better if you'll describe what OS/application you would like to have and then you can decide on what kind of "cluster" you would need to accomplish the goal.

Majority of DCs will not config cluster for you, especially ones that do colo only. If you have a good sysadmin/expert in specific clustering and access to the hosting environment then you can put cluster up.

You can also find a small shop (hosting) which will try to setup a cluster for you - but ot will be heavily dependent on what type of cluster you need - small shop may not have experience of working with fabric switch and NAS/SAN architecture while they may be able to install NLB for windows.
