free godaddy hosting for forum ?
Hi, I registered few domains with godaddy. I see that godaddy have free host with ads.
I would like to try to run a forum,
not very big, 100-200 members.
Is godaddy usable for that?
In not, which is recommended free/cheap solution for forum?
Which forum is safest nowadays? phpbb, ibp or some other?
The phpbb is the best free forum software I think, besides Vbulletin is more secure but it is pricey.
Yes you can. The free hosting comes with 10 mySQL databases and 1 MS SQL db. It also includes email. You also have access to the one-click application installations.

Free hosting will probably be fine for a start up forum. However, it's recommended you work your way up towards paid hosting as your forum or websites grow larger.
now most host haveing 2$ starting plan better you can start with that
You might well be able to get a free trial off a more reputable company. Try contacting them, it's always worth a shot.
That or as Yajur said, a lot of hosts have very small fees for their base package.
I recommend you to look into
SMF if you are looking for a free forum software.

SMF is a good software to use.
I used smf before my forum got more popular then i upgraded to vbulletin.
And instead of the free hosting just get cheap hosting to start off with.
Thank you for info! I will try with godaddy.
I will try with SMF,
I know phpbb have lot of exploits, maybe that changed (?) but my friend had problems with that before.
Nowadays there are hosts that give hosting with no ads for free.
phpBB is quite a secure system, if you have set it up correctly that is. But either way, phpBB and SMF are both very good forum systems.

phpBB3 isn't bad and I've used it in the past with success.
go with SMF of MyBB if you will host a small forum...free godaddy hosting should be enough as a start i guess..
If you can, I would spend 3 or 4 bucks a month to go with a paid provider. If I were a betting man, I'd say GoDaddy's free servers are probably overcrowded and may not be reliable.
I would go with paid hosting and latter update to vBulletin.
if you are going with free hosting, be sure you can download a copy of the forum database, so you can someday move the forum to paid hosting.

I think you may start with the free hosting package that GoDaddy offers. However if you are going to do a long term genuine work, better think about go for paid web hosting.
However GoDaddy is fantastic with phpBB. I used both phpBB and vBulletin. I give 100 marks to phpBB without any question. It is free, fast & modifiable code with lots of mods published by 1000s of users worldwide. I highly recommend phpBB.
