Newbie VPS problems. Need advice from non-newbies...
This should be my first post, but I've been reading on this forum for about 3 months before I purchased my 1st VPS!
I am currently with PhotonVPS, and have purchased their BEAM 1 option with CPanel.
Their service and professionalism is pretty good! And since it's my 1st VPS, i don't want to be too hasty to move to another, but I am considering it!
The VPS broke down somehow, and I had asked them to rebuild it (as it was only 5 or so days old). It took them 30+ hours to get it back to new.
After that, one day of setting up two accounts in WHM, and attempting a Graceful Restart of the server, it breaks down again, SSH and TOMCAT working, but APACHE does not work.
I understand basic VPS settings, despite being a Newbie, so I know that I'm not setting up any extremely wrong settings, regardless of the fact that I only set up the DNS servers for accountA, and installed Tomcat Servlet for accountB.
So.. I wanted to know from the more experienced users of WHM/VPS's, how long does it usually take to rebuild a VPS (dataloss is fine, as it's still new!)
And would you suggest I move to another host?
(Since I'm a new to VPS management, and may still keep on making mistakes for another month or two, would u still suggest I should/nt move?)
Rebuilding a VPS for openVZ (not sure what you have) shouldn't take more than a few minutes. All they need to do is enter a few commands and your up and running (or click on a nice precreated button, depends if they have an automated system).
As your a newbie in VPS solutions, Why not go with a Fully Managed company? Remember is a company is Fully Managed, The payment is always higher. Or keep the current server and higher out a server management company to run the VPS for you?
If you are needing any help, I am sure users on this forum are happy to help you out.
If you could contact our support desk, we'll be glad to resolve any issues your having with the VPS. Regarding the delay for the OS rebuilt, it was caused by FluidVM and we could not do it at that time. That bug has been worked out for the time being.
