When I am just making pages I use FrontPage 2000 as a graphical editor (use a lot of tables and text). When I am editing PHP scripts I am starting to use vim.
I suppose emacs would also work for the brave.

DreamWeaver, Homesite, VS.NET, and vi.
I'm starting to use XML and XSLT stylesheets to generate HTML pages via a run-once tranformation tool that I built using VS.NET. Great for large mostly static web sites.<!-- boo! -->0

I'm not a designer, so I use Word '97 for the tables, text, and inserts - then use Notepad to edit/add.
Did a test run of Dreamweaver - found it very user unfriendly.0

Ooo oo oo Dreamweaver!
I'm a dreamweaver 4.0 guy. I tried MX, and, well, it didn't run well on my poor little Pentium III 750... Also played a bit with Golive. Very nice package.
BUT, for my buck, or, something like that, I'm sticking with the old dreamweaver...

My site is made with PHP-Nuke, but I hacked it all up with notepad, till I found Ariesoft Winsyntax.
I build my basic layouts and such in Front Page Express 2.0, clean up in Winsyntax and do my php coding in Winsyntax also.

GoLive and Homesite.
Didn't like Dreamweaver 4 because of the way it leaves the desktop showing.
I'm more Adobe oriented than Macromedia anyway, coming from a print background.
I intend to try Dreamweaver MX. Heard it incorporates a lot of Homesite, which I really like.Laura K.

Hi All,
I have alooked at quite a few web hosting sites. In a LOT of cases they have very similar design and layouts. If you look at the source a lot of them use templates.
I'm familiar with Dreamweaver and NOF, and wanted to know if you guys use any other software to create your websites or perhaps there are some specific templates out there.
Any help would be appreciated ...

I used Fireworks to make the graphics for our site and then vBulletin for our forums
In my view Fireworks is a great graphics package for the price0

I use notepad. There's nothing like the satisfaction of watching your code turn into something wicked-cool.
If you'd like to have synthax highlighting, then you should give EditPad Pro (www.jgsoft.com) or EditPlus (www.EditPlus.com) a go. They are both wonderful pieces of software.0

Poor boy here can only afford FrontPage which I've been working with for a couple of years and find its easy to use and has a lot of functionality. We're in the process of migrating our site at work so I may be doing some work in DreamWeaver here soon. I still can't quite afford it yet myself because I have yet to see additional benefits that would make it worth it to spend my hard earned money on. It's more of a commercial pricing and I'm not sure how so many people can afford it unless they're using company funding, making better money than me (which wouldn't be too tough to do), or are using unregistered versions.

Dreamweaver by far. Get things done faster and more effectively. Worth the investment.
