Need a Reseller Account with configurable mail box quotas

Can anyone suggest a decent reseller account that will allow me as the reseller to set and alter the mail box quota on a per email account basis?

I'm with Heart Internet at the moment and they have a server wide imposed limit of 250mb per email account. This may be fine for most people but I have clients who like to leave copies of mail on the server and 250mb is just not enough.

    Any suggestions most welcome.

    Thanks

Any cPanel host will allow you to change the limits of your mailbox up to your account quota.

Are there any specific requirements you are looking for in terms of the amount of total disk space, location, bandwidth etc?

    Thanks for the reply

Don't need too much in the way of space and bandwidth. i'd say probably a minimum of 6Gb web space, 10Gb bandwidth and I need to get this set up like yesterday! so fast turn around on the order would be good.

Not sure I would use the account for any other sites but would be nice to have the option in future should I need to move any more sites away from HI so an upgrade path would be useful.

Your requirements seem reasonable. Do you have a budget?

why not use a service like outlook and just download all the emails? I do that and there is no limit on the webserver for that and it's safer imo.

Don't want to spend too much as this may well turn out to be used for only one or two sites but I'd say not more than $25 per month.

I personally would, although I would not touch Outlook with a barge pole! I use Thunderbird, however, this isn't my email account, it's a client and if they want to leave their mail on the server as well as have it on their local machine, which is what they do, then who am I to argue? They should be able to do this if they want but with Heart Internet's 250mb limit per account that is not possible. Oh and by the way, I was just forwarding some of their email to another account I had set up so I could free up some space for them and got to 42 emails when Heart Internet blocked me saying I had reached the maximum allowed sent emails per day. So, now not only can I not forward any mail but the client cannot send any! Absolutely ridiculous! How can any reasonably sized business operate on a limit of 250mb per mail box and only 42 emails per day?

Now you can see why I am looking for another reseller account that is more flexible?

I was always a long time supporter of Heart Internet but the limitations are really starting to show now

Better use Gmail - it's quick to setup and your client can archive their mails (common web hosting accounts are not suitable for high email usage). You can leverage the power of Google for this, they give 50 free email boxes per domain (each box has 7gb+) - if you need more space/features, you can buy their paid plans.

I assume your talking about Google Apps ? Because using a free mail address for a client like this would not work. They need their own domain email and although Google offer this server via Google Apps it's not exactly cheap although I can't argue it's not good value for money for a large organization who want's to get out of the MS Exchange strangle hold.

Problem I have is that first, the client has already paid me so I need to sort something out quickly, second although they have offices around the world each one is independent and the one with the email problem only has 5 people in their office so the cost of something like Google Apps I don't think will go down well, especially since in their eyes they have already paid for a service that, at the moment they are not getting.

All I really need is something that will do them for a couple of years whilst they grow and then perhaps further down the line I can get them to migrate to Google.

I dont think its really tough to find such reseller, there are many companies which provide this option, you can easily alter the per mail box quota.

I recommend Surpasshosting as your budget. Your customers can define/change the quota of their email accounts on Cpanel.
