    Dedicated Server Values?

What, in your opinion, is the most valuable services/qualities with a dedicated server contract?

    Mine are:

    Price 45%
    Modernization/Network/Infrastructure 25%
    Availability/Support 20%
    Cooperation/Upgrading/Flexibility 10%

    I am just curious.

For a experienced user able to administrate the server:
    Price 20%
    Modernization/Network/Infrastructure 60%
    Availability/Support 10%
    Cooperation/Upgrading/Flexibility 10%
Support is needed only in case of hardware failure.

For a normal user I have to agree with you temperne.

    5%/45%/40%/10%

Price may be enticing but shouldn't weigh heavily on deciding who to host with, especially if it's mission critical. I would be willing to spend much more with a provider that has a great infrastructure/datacenter/network backed by a knowledgeable support team who makes themselves available 24x7x365 over some company that just popped out of no where and offering the same configuration 40% less. Why pay less if you can't access your server, receive support, or get in touch with anyone from the company. Credibility and a name backed by experience in this industry is extremely important in my book.

I usually order my servers with remote management features (like IPMI or Dells DRAC) and I can manage my servers pretty good myself so support isn't that important. I think the quoted text reflects my answer pretty well!

For someone that doesn't feel comfortable with managing a server and doesn't have remote management features I would put alot more on support though.

    Availability and Infrastructure Trumps Price

I believe that availability and functionality of the infrastructure trumps price. I thoroughly believe you get what you pay for, so be careful with the cheapest of anything when it comes to your business.

Many of these sound about right for owning hardware, there or there abouts.

When it comes to e.g. reselling, it kinda looks like:

    Price - 95%
    Modernization/Network/Infrastructure - 0%
    Availability/Support - 5%
    Cooperation/Upgrading/Flexibility - 0%0
