    * Linking VPS and Shared Hosting.

    Hi,

I have one shared server and vps server (different services).
My website is hosted on VPS server.
Since shared server has unlimited disk space, I want to use disk space of shared server from VPS. Is it possible?

My website has some file upload functions for users.
If a user uploads a file, i want it to store on Shared hosting disk space.

i wonder if someone knows a solution.

    Thanks in advance.

You could do this through different methods but would be restricted by the shared hosting.

Some sort of FTP mounting or the application FTPing files on upload.

Note that most shared hosting providers, especially ones offering "unlimited" disk space (which doesn't exist), will not allow you to use the space just as file storage or anything like that.

You can use ftp and http to access those files on shared server, but thats about it. However your host won't allow you to use that unlimited space for files that do not support your website (on shared server)

I know they r not actually unlimited. But since it has more space than VPS, i would like to know the technique use that space from vps.

    i'll try with FTPing.

FTP and HTTP are probably the only services open to you. Maybe WebDAV.

Again, you won't be able to use that space just "as space". Its more than likely for a website only - a website hosted on that shared system.

    Thanks

Yap, I'm doing the same with my website too. You can setup a subdomain name, like img.yourdomain.com, then setup this subdomain dns to the shared hosting server dns, so you can use the shared hosting server as an image storage server. Doing this way, your website will speed up too.

would be easier to just do a html code linking to sharedsite.com/img

The alternative host helps with things like cookies not being sent over to the image host.
