    The best UK hosting companies

In your opinion what are the best hosting companies in UK?

In fact I'm looking for the alternative to HOSTGATOR in UK.

It means : good uptime, good speed, good support, CPanel, Fantastico, inexpensive.

Accepting adult content (dating) is a must

There's plenty of choice in the UK and you shouldn't have a problem with a dating site.

In the uk adult stuff is not quite as straight forward, you may wish to look at webhostchat.co.uk for specific uk hosts

Of course small UK hosters speaking and advertising their services on this UK forum will not welcome topic about "UK alternative of HOSTGATOR" as small hosters speaking and advertising their services on WHT do not like companies as HOSTGATOR. Of course.

I think the nearest you will get to HostGator in the the UK is streamline.net or 1and1.co.uk but even then they don't seem to match feature wise.

What kind of budget are you thinking of? Something similar in price to HostGator?

At 1and1(.com) there's a limit on the size of databases (100mb if my memory serves me right) which may soon become a problem for a dating site, depending on its popularity.

Not interested in 1&1 but my dating sites are private labels through affiliate programs so there is no database issue.

Thank you for your input anyway

When you say "alternative to HostGator", what is it you're actually looking for? A host that provides a tonne of diskspace/bandwidth, someone that matches that price or just a large company?

I'm looking for great uptime, good speed, good support (although I don't need so much support as I am a basic user of CPanel) + CPanel and Fantastico and a company who is not in business for just a couple of years and managed by a single guy reselling something. And I need to host lots of websites (more than 10 ). A lot of them being landing pages.

In the US I found HOSTGATOR (and even JUSTHOST - although there do have bad reviews I do not have any problem with them) and I would like to find the UK (or European) alternative to HOSTGATOR (so far so good for me - for years).

Adult content is an issue as I am also into (adult) dating.

    Thank you for your input.

Thank you for the advice. I will check UK2.net

I think 123-reg.co.uk is one of the bigger hosting companies in the UK. They are primarily for registering domain names but they also offer web hosting. They might be worth a try.

Have you looked at their site? With their top shared package databases are limited to ten, with a maximum size of 150M.

    Exclamation

You might also consider DiscountASP.NET if you need ASP.NET or http://www.34sp.com in Manchester for Linux. Both have great service records.

I saw on Twitter that 34SP.com has a free first month promo here:

    http://www.34sp.com/special-offer-1

DiscountASP.NET sometimes offers 3 months free as well. I think that's with an annual subscription. They only have email support - but not a problem from what I gather.

If you need dedicated I'd recommend Rackspace.co.uk - again has a great service record. I don't recall seeing any special offers there.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, it is mainly web hosts on there so you won't get any true recommendations there. A nice place to hang out for web hosts though

    Hi

for UK based CPanel hosting with a good budget, you probably have a fair few to choose from.

Lots of hosting companies within the UK have good support and good networks, just don't look for a host that is too cheap otherwise theres chances they may oversell!

Do you have a budget in mind??

I wanted to know the UK alternative of HOSTGATOR.
But I see that there is no such a company in the UK.

I'm not sure what you mean, HostGator offer unlimted hosting which doesn't exist. They use their tos to constrain you to some sort of limits, as they must.

So far all I can tell is you want a reliable shared cPanel host.

Well there are quite a few of them in the UK and you have already been pointed to a great place to find some of them.

Ultimately only by trying a host will you know if, in your opinion, it's as good as HostGator.

HG is really a big player in this industry, and they have a good reviews. So I am wondering why you are confusing youself into finding out another excellent host and then making a hard choice on which one to choose.(Just personal opinion.)
And I suggest you check in the offer part on WHT,you won't see any unlimited or free plan there. Also I am sure that you can find some EU hosts under the search.

Because I run a network of small sites AND I want a few hosting solutions AND I don't want to rely on just 1 hosting company.

Try looking in the offers section, I would look out for uptime guarantees and Money back guarantees. And of course reviews. Good luck finding a host.

Avoid 123reg as it is very expensive

Avoid 123reg as it is very expensive and doesn't offer much in space and bandwidth.
