    Domain name and google apps

    Hi guys

just discovered google apps and domain integration looks good!

Now i've registered a a domain name through name.com and have enabled google apps on it

now also at the same time on my server i have a webhosting account set up for it running cpanel / whm

now what i want to do is keep the google apps stuff (calendar, mail, docs etc as it is) but for my main site www.mysite.com i want to upload the files to the account which has been created on the server

at the moment my DNS config is as follows

    A mydomain.com 64.233.179.121 (delete) 300 2009-08-31 08:11:23
    A mydomain.com 66.249.81.121 (delete) 300 2009-08-31 08:11:32
    A mydomain.com 72.14.207.121 (delete) 300 2009-08-31 08:11:37
    MX mydomain.com alt1.aspmx.l.google.com (delete) 1800 20 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    MX mydomain.com alt2.aspmx.l.google.com (delete) 1800 20 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    MX mydomain.com aspmx.l.google.com (delete) 1800 10 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    MX mydomain.com aspmx2.googlemail.com (delete) 1800 30 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    MX mydomain.com aspmx3.googlemail.com (delete) 1800 30 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    MX mydomain.com aspmx4.googlemail.com (delete) 1800 30 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    MX mydomain.com aspmx5.googlemail.com (delete) 1800 30 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    CNAME calendar.mydomain.com ghs.google.com (delete) 1800 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    CNAME docs.mydomain.com ghs.google.com (delete) 1800 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    CNAME mail.mydomain.com ghs.google.com (delete) 1800 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    CNAME start.mydomain.com ghs.google.com (delete) 1800 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    CNAME www.mydomain.com ghs.google.com (delete) 1800 2009-08-30 16:10:30

any idea what i need to change or modify so that mydomain.com points to the account on the server?

Your domain doesn't need to point to Googles nameservers, just the MX records.

I go around dealing with all that mess and just setup the MX records and used folder redirects.

You'll need these for Google Mail:

    MX mydomain.com alt1.aspmx.l.google.com (delete) 1800 20 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    MX mydomain.com alt2.aspmx.l.google.com (delete) 1800 20 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    MX mydomain.com aspmx.l.google.com (delete) 1800 10 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    MX mydomain.com aspmx2.googlemail.com (delete) 1800 30 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    MX mydomain.com aspmx3.googlemail.com (delete) 1800 30 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    MX mydomain.com aspmx4.googlemail.com (delete) 1800 30 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    MX mydomain.com aspmx5.googlemail.com (delete) 1800 30 2009-08-30 16:10:30

    You'll need these for Google...

    Calendar:
    CNAME calendar.mydomain.com ghs.google.com (delete) 1800 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    Docs:
    CNAME docs.mydomain.com ghs.google.com (delete) 1800 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    Mail:
    CNAME mail.mydomain.com ghs.google.com (delete) 1800 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    Dashboard:
    CNAME start.mydomain.com ghs.google.com (delete) 1800 2009-08-30 16:10:30

The one's you'll need to delete/change (to point to your website):

Change this one to the desired server/website IP:
    A mydomain.com 64.233.179.121 (delete) 300 2009-08-31 08:11:23
    Delete this one...
    A mydomain.com 66.249.81.121 (delete) 300 2009-08-31 08:11:32
    Delete this one...
    A mydomain.com 72.14.207.121 (delete) 300 2009-08-31 08:11:37
    Change this...
    CNAME www.mydomain.com ghs.google.com (delete) 1800 2009-08-30 16:10:30
    To this...
    CNAME www.mydomain.com mydomain.com (delete) 1800 2009-08-30 16:10:30
