    Reseller or Dedicated Server

Currently we are operating as a reseller.

Soon, we will need to upgrade ourself to the next plan from our current provider again.

    Now that the questions are:

    1. Should I use another reseller account, i.e. getting from another host by not putting all eggs in a basket

    or

    2. Should we get our own dedicator server or VDS?

    Any advise?

    Hiya Addvalue

Is you are generating enough revenue from your current reseller package such that you can support a dedicated server, then i must advice you to go for Dedicated

We are currently using 3GB Space and 45GB Bandwidth only.
Thought that if we are upgrading, it will be 4GB and 60GB respectively.

Most Dedicated server are too big for us...thought of getting a VDS. Is there any different?

But we still wish to signup the lowest plan with our current provider. So that we could solve any technical problems when we are unable to solved.

What about SEMI-DEDICATED SERVER? What is the different between VDS and SDS?

How much are you paying for reseller a month right now? If it's cheap, then maybe you should move up a plan instead of moving to a dedicated server. Dedicated servers are usually around $99.

We paying $40.00/per month, but if we upgrade, then it will be $50/per month.

Is there a different of Virtual Dedi-Server and Semi-Dedi Server?

I remember there is a post but no idea is in WHT forum. Stating that Virtual Dedi-Server can be customise to what we want.

If we could get the same bandwidth and slightly higher pricing, than we don't mind going for VDS or SDS.

Of course, if we could get a dedicated server, that will be better. All our customers will be in one box only without sharing with other reseller. I am sure our clients will be happy for that.

Thanks LiNux, but we are not familiar with ENSIM, only one of our guy ever use it and not the rest of them.

Before, we sign up with our current provider, we search for quite a number of Hosting provider.

Those who offer ENSIM are always far better in pricing that those who offer WHT/CPANEL. However, we are currently using CPANEL and many of our enquiries are particularly requesting for CPANEL as well.

Your price is really attractive, no doubts!

We did spend our time on the market demand, if we market with CPANEL, we will be much confident in marketing our hosting service. At least, those who are using ENISM or H-SPHERE could get used to CPANEL very soon. But if you ask them to change to ENSIM, the problem will arise.

We will still look into that, if the feedback we get is ok. we might market both, CPANEL and ENSIM using two servers.

    Farrukh,

Thanks for the link, only visited those Semi-Dedi server provider.

Some are very costly. Just email AlohaHost, waiting for their respond. This one seems reasonable.

I believe you can use SSH to transfer all your files to whereever you are moving.

    Linux Package looks good.

Addvalue, you might want to decrease you price a bit at your processor is 1.3. The space and bandwidth are good.just adjust your prices a bit .

Make it around $64.65 to $84.65

and what other services are you offering.

    Oh alright Addvalue

Linux's Plan sounds good. Maybe you two could come up with something

  17. #17
    Linux...no website?

Addvalue...I think we are on the same server.

We also received a newsletter from our provider for the Semi-Dedi with same features.

Available next week right? Have you sign?

  18. #18
Linux i think you should read the forum rules before posting prices etc about your services this is a good reason to get on the moderators bad side ( Not that they have a bad site but maybe grumpy side )

Also addvalue i would not personly trust someone that doesnt even have a website... Think about it they have not developed a site that would help you with support, phones numbers etc.

Yes they can offer you good deals but how do you know to trust them if they dont even have a store front (website)

Many hosts can take pre orders before they open but the people are buying for them are taking a big risk that the business ( if you can call it that) can fail due to many factors.

Dont always go for the cheapest option... Search WHT and find out comments what people are saying about each company you decide to use.

Be smart because its your clients that are going to be asking for refunds if something serious happens.

I would suggest you go with a good dedicated server. There is no point in having to keep moving your clients over every so often and during moves i hope you realise that you will lose some clients. So 2 Moves for example from reseller plan to VDS then from VDS to Dedicated servers. Thats 2 times that customers will have to update Ips etc you move there files problem after problem etc.

One move to a dedicated server would be your best option.

    Kind regards
    Phillip

    Hello Phillip,

We do agree with your points. In fact, we are very comfortable with our current provider. Even if we shift to VDS/SDS/DS, we will still remain the lowest plan with them. Partly we need their technical support. Just in case, we are unable to solve the problem, there is always a support behind.

We do understand and we do have the ability to get our own dedicted server. The problem is, we can't manage as we have not into that before.

And we are of course very concern about our clients. In fact, majority of the clients are for personal interest, small enterprises and most of all non-profit organisation [charity]. Which is what we actually aim for and provide them with the lowest price possible.

If you take a look at our website, you could imagine how much can we actually make? Peanuts!

So, we might either move to Semi-Dedi or Virtual-Dedi till we are
ready for dedi. So, we just need to move our clients twice like what you mentioned.

To be fair, a firm has to start off somewhere, when we join our current provider, they do us a good job and they do reveal to us that they have just officially started a week ago before i sign up. Of course, at the period of time, they already has their website up for more than a month.

So, we should also give the new firm an opportunity. How do they want to perform, it is all up to them. "Once bitten twice Shy'.

Appreciate the guidance you guys has given.

    Hugoduke,

    Are you with bespoke too?

I have not decided yet. Although now doubts on them, but still not sure should we put all eggs in a basket.

Will decide next week, still discussing with the other partners.

I agree everyone starts from somewhere i was just under the impression that the sites were more business types and Uptime was important to making money.

All providers should be given a chance but also its 50-50 risk factor if not more.

As you said that the sites are not big ecommerce site but i also dont like user like LiNux Spaming his service were he should not

Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

    Kind regards

I don't think LINUX is spamming. He is merely responding to
Add Value posting and request, isn't it?

<<MOD NOTE: He introduced his services to the thread, thus he is spamming>>

Add Value did request Linux to send more information to them. But I don't quite get what he means on his last posting here.

Anyway, I might be wrong since we don't visit this forum often.

So, addvalue, coming up with any decision? Just post your doubts here or any other forums to get your mind set.

LiNuX since you read the rules maybe you missed the first line...

I am not bashing you and or doing whatever. I would not personly buy from someone without a website. That is my own opinion.

And how do i know who you are Linux? I dont and neither does anyone else with out a face ( Website ).
