    I think you're on a 10mbps port, download never exceeded 1.25MB/s.
Issue ethtool eth0 to check the port speed if you run a centos/rhel server.

Cool thanks learned something new .

    Settings for eth0:
Supported ports: [ TP MII ]
    Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
    100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
    Supports auto-negotiation: Yes
    Advertised link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
    100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
    Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes
    Speed: 100Mb/s
    Duplex: Full
    Port: MII
    PHYAD: 1
    Transceiver: internal
    Auto-negotiation: on
    Supports Wake-on: pumbg
    Wake-on: d
    Current message level: 0x00000001 (1)
    Link detected: yes

Is the download suppose to exceed 1.25MB on 100mbps ? Whats the output one should get for 100Mbps ?

PS: Now i am getting good speeds as some changes to the router have been made something of this nature >> "added a QOS exception in our core routers for your new IP" << not sure what that means
