httpd startssl and start
in some server, /etc/ini.d/http start and some servers /etc/init.d/httpd startssl and ssl sites and working in both case. Anybody knows the reason behind it?
/etc/init.d/httpd will start both sites.
There is no specific command only to start sites with ssl
It depends upon the init script that you have. If its a default install using RPM, /etc/init.d/httpd start will open ssl sockets too (if Apache core has ssl enabled).
If its a custom Apache install from source, your Server Admin might have created a custom init script to start the SSL.
on apache 2.2.x , apachectl say -
# echo The startssl option is no longer supported.
# echo Please edit httpd.conf to include the SSL configuration settings
# echo and then use "apachectl start".
