Thread: Need a server.

  1. #1

    Need a server.

    Hello, I'm looking for either a VDS or Dedicated server. I do have a tight budget of around $65USD. I am in Canada so a host from here would be fine. No quotes from OVH please.

    CPU = any
    RAM = 512MB or more
    OS: Windows or Ubuntu
    HDD: 100GB or more
    IPs = 1
    No control panel or firewall needed.

    Thanks in advance.

    Bandwidth?

    You should look at a vps, or a hybrid vps. Check out Wiredtree/ServInt/JaguarPC for those.

    iweb.ca is not bad. Should meet your requirements with that budget

    If you want a Canadian host try iWeb, Carat Networks, Netelligent, or ServerTag.

    For that price you should be able to find a good vps provider.

    Your budget is fair enough for your requirements. Do you have any preference for virtualization technology? In case of Windows VPS, do you have preference for Win 2003/Win 2008?

    Hey,
    If you want to take a server from the US, then for that budget you will easily get a P4 or an Atom server!

    FDC is from U.S. so if you are okay to have a server from U.S try interserver.net they have a very good deal with their atom server

    $39 - atom server
    $15 - Windows
    Total: $54.00/Month

    Can anyone recomend a OVH reseller or a site that does it.

    You can use "find a host" here and you will be able to place your request there and see what subscribed companies can offer you

    I already suggested Carat since being in Canada is important to you. You are not going to do much better than them. If you were to look in the U.S., you could do better than getting a P4 for $70 a month. Get a real server, not desktop parts passing off as one.

    Systeminplace isnt within my budget, plus i already have a server in that area, using similar bandwith.

    I have decided to wait a few months till funds are better before deciding. Thanks everyone

    Agreed, If i want a US server ill get a second one from FDC. I do want one in Canada, seems Carat will be fine once i have the funds for it.

    I'd check out HoneLive, They have some server deals around here. They've been doing a great job and my current one (hurricane.hostmist.com for bear and anyone else who wants to check) has been steady since it went up.
    Nothing here right now.
