    Need Help optimize my.cnf and httpd.conf

    Hello!

    Below is my server configuration:

    Server: HP ProLiant DL180
    CPU: 1x Intel Quad Core Xeon L5410
    OS: CentOS 5.3 64bit
    RAM: 16GB DDR2
    Volume Connectivity: 100 Mbps Unmetered

    Please help to optimize optimize my.cnf and httpd.conf

    Hello,

    Your hardware configuration looks good. But before tweaking Apache and MySQL, one would need to consider a few misc things like:

    1) No: of TCP/IP connections during peak hours.

    2) No: of MySQL users

    etc..

    If this server isn't a production server, I would suggest you to hire an Admin for the task as a lot of things should be taken into consideration.

    Hello bornic,

    For huge production servers:

    Use 'my-huge.cnf' for MySQL and

    Increase the Apache directives for the MPM. Run tests using Apache benchmark tool 'ab' once completed. This will give you a better idea.

    But again I would recommend you to get an experienced Server Admin if you don't have hands on experience in tweaking the server.
