    VB Branding free pointless?

    It says this in the source code:
    <!-- CSS Stylesheet -->
    <style type="text/css" id="vbulletin_css">
    * vBulletin 3.8.3 CSS
    * Style: 'WHT 3.8'; Style ID: 22
    @import url("clientscript/vbulletin_css/style-429e002f-00022.css");
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="clientscript/vbulletin_important.css?v=383">
    You can tell the version number of vbulletin really easily and you can tell if your forum is vbulletin. Look at it.

    Did you change it to 4 from 3?

    You can look at the css code and see something too.

    It's obvious if the forum is vBulletin or not sometimes.

    People most likely purchase it because they find the text annoying?

    I do not see how a line could be annoying unless the font was just huge or it was out of place. People do not stare at the VBulletin copyright I hope...

    I've never bothered with VB branding free for those reasons, and that shouldn't matter for a forum that this shows. I can see it for billing or help desk software, but not a forum.
    Having problems, or maybe questions about WHT? Head over to the help desk!

    I like going with the copyright removal to strengthen my brand, and I'm sure that's the reason many pay the extra cash to have it removed.

    I don't disagree; branding free is pretty much useless in terms of hiding what version software we are running. During a redesign of WHT I laid out several requirements and one of them was keeping the copyright in place for licensing reasons. I don't remember who; but someone asked if there was a way around that and I picked up a branding free version for that reason.

    It is one less thing I have to make sure is in place during a design refresh though; so it does serve some value.
