    Alternative to DG31GL or DG35EC

Has anyone had any experience or can suggest an alternative to the Intel DG31GL board for use in the SC512L-260 1U chassis? Or even an alternative to the DG35EC?
I believe the DG31GL is not available any longer, and I'm looking for something a little more economical than the DG35EC for some budget builds that require only 4 GB RAM.

The DG31PR is a wonderful board and works in that chassis.

Yes, I was looking at that one, looks like Realtek NICs are about the main difference.

    Chong,

How has your experience with the reliabilty on the Gigabyte boards been? We had some Gigabyte server boards fail on us that we purchased a year or so ago, about 3 out 5 in fact. But it may have been just that one board that had issues from what I read...GA3PXSL-RH

It's up to you - but I love the DG31PR. Never had issues with it, used piles of them.

For a DG35EC replacement, the closest comparison I have found is the newly released DG43GT. The DG43GT has a lot more junk on the board that you probably don't need, and costs about $15 more. You should see the DG43GT in the $95-100 price range whereas the DG35EC used to be in the $75-80 price range.

Nice of Intel to yank the DG35EC from the channel with no comparable replacement in sight.

The DG33FB is more expensive as well, and a much larger board. Just barely barely fits in the 512L-260B, but it works fine.

Yeah, our Intel stuff has been rock solid. We've used a few of these without issue, just sometime Realtek NICs have compatability issues when it comes to Linux but so far no problems.

The DG35EC was great for 8 GB setups though.

We use DG41TY http://www.intel.com/Products/Deskto...Y-overview.htm and DG45ID http://www.intel.com/Products/Deskto...D-overview.htm as replacements, it is I believe have the same form factor (micro ATX), problem is it only have DVI port.

Both in the same price range with DG31PR and DG35EC, although DG41ID is a bit more expensive than DG35EC.

If you don't mind the Realtek NIC, you can try the DG41RQ. It's priced closer to the DG31GL. We don't use it in the SC512 chassis, but it works great in the Evercase 1U chassis we use.

Do you know if it would fit nicely in the SC512 chassis?

The default 5.3 kernel...though buggy as hell...should still be able to install the OS and once you download and compile the latest kernel all should be good.

it costs just a few dollars more than DG35EC

one thing though, you must use DVI-I to VGA adapter to have analog video output.

I cannot get the DG43KT through newegg.ca. I need a board that will fit within the SC512 chassis with up to 8GB RAM and take Core2 Duo, Core2 Quad CPUs. Any assistance is appreciated.

Does the DG41TY board fit into the SC512 chassis without any issues?
