    * The Weather Thread!!!

You are all probably thinking what an idiot Sean is by posting a thread related to the weather. Well maybe he has a good reason too!

Nah, I thought it would be interesting for us all to share out latest weather here on WHT, For some reason I always love the weather and have done so since I was a kid and it has been a great passion of mine.

Anyways, To get started, I live in Canberra in the ACT and it is so damn cold in winter and quite dry and hot in the summer. Though I was looking at my old home town today - I was amazed at the temperature, Very balmy and so damn hot!

Today here in the ACT it was a mild - 15C (59F)

    - Now mind you Australia is currently in winter and rarely reaches 30C in the southern states like, NSW, VIC, TAS, SA etc.

In Kempsey, My old home town they broke a record of - 35C (95F), A few hundred kilometers north it was - 37C (99F) nearly 100F...
Why is this the case in Winter?

You can say many places broke records today.
I am curious to wonder what the Spring & Summer will be like this year. Hesitant to wonder.

What is the weather like where you are, Hot or Cold it does not matter.

One year there was a thread about Christmas... I think I was complaining that we didn't have snow, again. Then Mouse was saying how hot it was. And we got into this thing where we were comparing how its so natural to build snowmen and make snow angels at Christmas time and she was saying how weird it is that we have Christmas in the winter, where Christmas to her is supposed to be hot out. I think about that 'conversation' a lot....

Anyway, its a nice 79 degrees out, quite pleasant. Sunny, warm... its a nice summer day today.

Wonderfully hot! Does anyone know of any good almanacs where we could look at historical data for today? (Somewhere that would show "Today's High", "Today's Low", "All-time high", "All-time Low", etc, etc...?

    Thanks!

    Memphis, TN:

    79 degrees Farenheit...feels like 80.
    50% Humidity

Which is actually very suprising considering normally, it's around 95-105 with a heat index of 110+ during the summer, not to mention a 75% + humidity.

I just got back too! It hit up to 127 when I was there. Vegas weather sucks.

I was also in Kansas last week, it would jump from 80-101. It would even be around 98 and tons of scattered t-storms. (scary stuff)

Now I'm back in California at a comfortable 85. (72 in house)

Grandparents are Scottish and are from Edinburgh the same, They say it is always cold, wet & windy over there. I should start to feel quite lucky.

It seems that most people here are in some area where it is quite mild/warm and very few where it is actually freezing. Australia never has snow in winter, Or it did once or twice or a few times.

I remember when there were Bushfires in NSW that it snowed in Victoria. That was quite bizarre. Then it turned to recent, Floods in 3 states and a fire in the other

Anyways, Today, Weather seems quite weird. I was up at 2am because the winds that come from (Western Australia) thanks Josh, Exceeded 100km/h when I was trying to sleep.
So now I am a walking goose with my eyes shut.

Looks like things should be the same tonight:- http://www.weatherzone.com.au/news/c...-weather/12526

Great this is something too look forward too indeed
Oh well it is a coolish 8C so that's quite nice.

LOL... First time ive ever "pwnd" a thread

I've actually passed the link around to several people who are not friends or family. Most of my family is computer illiterate and/or don't even own one. I'm thinking about getting some business cards and flyers and leaving them around on public bulletin boards.

I'm also wanting to redo the site since its using a premade php/HTML "template" system thats not very configurable and a bi**t to work on. I have a temp site setup where I'm using an old CMS system and converting it to work with my weather The test site is: http://weather.mgcjerry.net/wxsite/ But I'm going to wait until I get some more data and input from locals before going further with it.

The new one will be just as plain as the current one. Nothing I hate more than weather sites with useless bullsh*t all over them and stupid navigation and no archived data. The current site also loads fine and is easy to read on phones that we use in the field (not blackberries or iphones, just plain phones).

However, like I've told others, I'm interested in suggestions.

Actually I hate the sites that have "Banners" and are full of "Advertisements", I have to turn on NoScript on those sites so that I do not have to worry about seeing them as I do not intend to click on them

Your site looks nice, I am not an American so would not need to utilise in your sources but I think that it is quite plain and quite ordinary and what I would love to search.

I can't stand the humidity here. I had read somewhere that Houston became the city it is today thanks to air conditioning. I cannot walk further than a few blocks during summer without needing to change clothes and taking a shower. But I'm thankful I get to enjoy my outdoor soccer games almost all year long!

I've been to north LA in june and july but it was relatively cold! I've always wanted to move there for the swell.

    Cheers

That has to be the worst, Last Summer it was just humidity and nothing else. The day was 25 Degrees Celcius but felt like 100 degrees celcius! I hate summer for that reason and especially living coastal.

I could imagine many areas in the USA get relatively hot and many other countires around the world for that matter. For example this summer Melbourne hit 48 degrees celcius, I mean I have never seen a city on the USA hit that temperature... WOW!

I am glad I was not there and do not live there, Their climate varies dramatically at times.

Hopefully this summer is more pleasent and I am sure that if you moved to LA it would be better than having to have a shower every 5 minutes

Looks a bit scary in the yellow areas, Is that whole band moving West to East or North to south, South to North?

I like thunderstorms, Perhaps move some of that over here - Be 30 Degrees in Sydney City today and 22 Degrees and damn sunny in Canberra
