What complications are there with installing Gnome? google... where were you man...

Well, unless he needs a special compile of gnome, you can pretty much install it by using yum, apt or whatever package manager the OS uses.

If you are using RPM based distribution you can use following command.
# yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment"

Please use following command to check grouplist, it will show Installed Groups and Available Groups for gnome.
yum grouplist
if not installed then use following command
yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment"HostRector
