Home Computer Server WINXP PRO
I am trying to setup a small test server on my WinXP Pro so I can test out scripts. However, occasionaly I would like to show someone the script and it won't let anyone acess my server.
I am running PHPTriad and http://localhost works fine for me.
But when I get my ip from http://ipchicken.com it doesn't work.
Am I doing something wrong? I have disabled the WinXP Pro Firewall and I can direct connect on aim. I just don't understand why other people can't access the server.
Any help?

Is your ISP blocking port 80 traffic?

Are you sure you're giving users your proper IP?
Find your IP - ipconfig

You are sure you're pointing to the correct(web accessable) folder in httpd.conf? What message are you getting when you try to view your server from the web?

I can view my Localhost. If I go to to the IP, I can access it, It just doesn't let other people access it. Yes I am using the correct IP.
Any one else?

Who's your ISP? They must have port 80 blocked because nothing else would make sense.

Yeah, so does my ADSL provider. Open up httpd.conf and change the port to 8080 or whatever, restart apache, and see if that works.
Of course then you'd have to access it like http://domain.com:8080-Bruce

8080 Didn't work But I scanned for open unused ports and found one turned out to be 3306. Thanks for your help. I can't run it as 80 but 3306 is fine

wow.. they really did block the port. My cable company doesn't block any ports, but the moment they start I'll drop 'em like a bad habit... muahahahaha
