If you have a gmail.com account can you go to www.gmail.com and tell me if it takes you to a https secure login page, and also once you sign-in does it redirect you back to an unsecure http page?
Tell me what browser your using too. EG: IE7, ie8, FF, chrome
I want to know if you get any Popup box warnings from your browser informing you that you are leaving an https page.
I am using IE8 and i do NOT get an https popup box warning after login.
https is an option that you can enable within your gmail account setting after you login.
No popups...using Chrome
To enable https always:
-Sign in to Gmail.
-Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
-Under General tab find Browser Connection and set it to Always use https
-Click Save Changes.
I have a GMail account and I didn't know about the HTTPS but I never really looked into it... Thanks for the advice!

Does this mean that gmail is unencrypted by default?
whenever you login in your gmail account go to Settings > Click on the General tab > at the end you find the option "Browser connection" from there you can enable https.
