    apache stopped working

    Hello, my whm/cpanel was running fine but suddenly apache stopped working.

    I can´t restart it by hand neither

    Can you provide the output of this command:

    /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -t

    I did top -u nobody and process list was empty

    I had to recompile apache to get it back to normal

    No idea what made it fail, it was a nightmare... maybe my server security is compromised and I have no idea where I should start checking on.

    did you run easy apache? I had a similar issue a while ago where I ran easy apache and it didn't compile properly and instead of reverting back to old settings, it just stopped working. Had to recompile.

    and since you have cPanel, just contact the cPanel techs - they'll be able to look at the logs and tell you what went wrong.

    Look at your Apache error logs - you are likely to find details why Apache halted and/or wouldn't start.

    Try to start the apache service by using following command,

    #/etc/init.d/httpd restart
    or
    #/scripts/restartsrv_httpd
