Well I've been with WiredTree for a little over a year now (a year and two months to be a bit more exact) and I don't see myself leaving anytime soon.
To say that the support team over there is top notch would be an understatement. The few times I have needed to contact support I have always had a response almost immediately and a resolution was not far behind. I highlight the word few in the previous sentence as I have never had an issue with hardware or network in the time I have been with WT.
While I prefer to use tickets compared to the telephone I decided to give them a buzz early on with a support issue just to see how the phone support was and as expected it was top notch.
One thing that really impressed me is the knowledge of the staff at WT. When you contact anybody from the support department they really know their stuff. I have never once had to escalate a ticket to a higher support tech to get a problem solved.
My VPS constantly outperforms my expectations (went with a 512mb VPS that beat my old dedicated celeron / 1gb from LayeredTech). Network connectivity has been great and I can max my port out at any time.
The grove customer portal is just wonderful. Everything you need in one tight spot.
These guys are simply a 10/10 in every area I can think of. Keep up the great work guys!
Thank you for the good review - I wish we had more of these here nowadays. WiredTree has really gotten some good feedback lately and that certainly has put them among the names I would recommend in the future. I would like to hear your view on their control panels and other management utilities (if any) as well.
As far as actual control panel's for the VPS go you're rather limited (cPanel or nothing at the moment). I would prefer DirectAdmin personally but in the end the control panel makes little difference to me (I use my VPS to host my own sites, not sell hosting).
With regards to the client portal (called Grove) I have been very impressed. Everything is integrated very nicely into Grove (no needing to go to a separate area and login for billing or support, it's all there).
From Grove you can handle just about everything about your machine (even more with a dedicated). With the VPS you can see your bandwidth graphs, edit your reverse DNS information, request additional IP addresses, see the status of your major services (http, mysql, etc..), view resource graphs (ram, cpu, etc..), and setup any monitoring (i.e. to monitor HTTP and restart it if it goes down, to notify you when you hit 85% of your bandwidth, so on and so on).
With a dedicated server you can also look at IMPI metrics, remote reboot, upgrade your hardware, check port speeds, etc...
This is all packages in a nice web 2.0 feel and once more is another big 10/10 or maybe an 11/10. About the only control panel I have seen that beats it would be the leap panel from SingleHop; however, I have not had any personal experience with it just videos and speaking to friends about it.
Thank you for the very thorough review, I was thinking about buying one of their Core i7 dedicated server packages, I must say that with such an outstanding service record and numerous positive reviews, it's really a surprise to see how competitive their prices are!
I love to see quality reviews on this site because I know they are not fave reviews from a site that lists hosting companies based on how much of an affiliate commission they get. I have seen many great reviews about this company which I am very happy about since I am looking for a VPS.
I also didn't know about wired tree at all before I came to WHT.
