Speaking of which, maybe we should have a webhosting talk room on freenode, considering so many of us are on there...

I used to chat on IRC all the time but that was about a decade ago (late 90's).

If I'm really bored I'll drop in to #ATOT. Otherwise I prefer Skype.

freenode, OFTC, silc, etc.. all day long.

IRC is still a strong chat platform. With the ability to embed it, there's little reason to use anything else unless you intend to integrate a community/memberbase into it.

That is unfortunate. Why was it closed?

I use IRC. It's not as scary as some folks lead most others to believe it is.

IRC isn't scary at all. Unless you have a static IP and go to EFnet

Yea I use IRC every day (gamesurge) but that is the only server I have ever been on so I got a few BNC's setup

I use it daily for chatting to friends. Networks I use are freenode, tlc-chat (I helped this one get started by providing a dedicated server I used to have along with my officeirc licence....i'm still staff there now, but now run my server on my old laptop on my home connection (lost the dedicated server last year due to lack of money....we have other servers now), borknet (i'm also staff there), and 4irc (previously ausnet I believe) (i'm staff there as well)

That makes no sense. I'm guessing you have no idea even what IRC is.

I used to be support staff on GameSurge. Their services (AuthServ, ChanServ) are the best I've seen on any network.
