Windows Server 2008 R2 through SPLA?
Not sure if this is the correct forum this question...
Anyone had any luck finding out when Windows Server 2008 R2 will be available through SPLA? I'm signed up through Ingram Micro and they've said there is no current ETA. Technically, it has already RTM'd and is being released to MSDN tomorrow, with general availability on October 22.
Was rather disappointed they don't even have an ETA yet. I would have figured it would be available by the GA date, or perhaps released the beginning of November. Want to get some new equipment and was hoping to put R2 on it.Ken Robertson | Linked Labs | linkedlabs.com

You can put R2 on it right now, and activate it later, though I'm not sure if that breaches into any of your agreements.

I don't think R2 is available yet... well, could tomorrow when it is on MSDN. Saw it is supposed to be on the volume licensing site on the 19th, but don't know if that includes SPLA or not. The 180 day trial is supposed to be available on the 20th.

I thought it was on MSDN the same date as Win 7 RTM (August 6th?)

Got an email earlier about it being posted tomorrow, and it said the evaluation version is being posted tomorrow instead of the 19th as well.
But then I logged into the volume licensing site to get another key, since it said it was going to be down for 2-3 days (wtf?) and lo and behold, it showed keys for R2. Headed over to downloads, and it listed R2 there as well! Downloading that sucker right now.Ken Robertson | Linked Labs | linkedlabs.com

I upgraded to R2 RTM about two weeks ago and my DC was able to activate it.

Should be available this week officially for partners, which normally includes SPLA.

Available today
Windows Server 2008 R2 evaluation bits are set for availability on Friday, August 14, a week earlier than previously reported. On Friday, check out the Windows Server TechCenter on TechNet for info on how and where to download the 180-day evaluation bits.
