viewing installation through serial cable connection

I am connecting 2 servers by a serial cable. I can go to BIOS level, change anything. However, after that, when system runs into the OS installation, or normal operating, I cannot get anything from screen.

Do I miss any setting that allows me to continue to monitor server?

    Something like:

    append load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=0 ramdisk_size=16384 console=ttyS0,9600n8 initrd=initrd.img network ks=configfile.cfg

The critical option obviously is "console=ttyS0,9600n8"
