HostingCon Followup
Hey,
After seeing how everyone enjoys getting together at places like HostingCon in the evenings and getting drunk etc, how does this idea propose to everyone:
A "group" is created. All members would pay $150.00/annum membership to this "group" and as part of this, there is one get-together for the members which would be the industry experts once every 1/4 (4 times/year) which would be all-expenses-paid. This could be in the form of a function room (Depending on how many members) or a large table in restraunt, followed by alcahol.
Anybody like this idea?
Was a bit hard to explain, but do ask if you have any Q's!

May be but you know that hosting con does not target one state or one country, the attendees are from all over the world so it will be difficult for every one to get together.May be if we can arrange this on the day next to the hostingcon is done.May be than all of them consider to stay for one more day and get chilled out relaxing.

Well, like I said - it'll be once every 1/4. We can have that 1/4's around HC
And each 1/4, it'd be a different location and trying to keep it to centres of where most members are. So if there's 40% members in Texas, we have something Texas. If there's 53% of members in Chicago, we do something in ChicagoLast edited by JSCL; 08-11-2009 at 07:23 PM.

How about throwing some regional HostingCamps. It would help build more validity and exposure into the Web 2.0 crowd by making them realize we're not an ancient, slowly moving industry, and also give the ability to get decently sized groups of people in one place without the massive overhead involved for everyone (attendees, exhibitors, and presenters) around throwing a large conference.

The idea isn't bad but it's not really feasible, IMO.
