Not sure if any of you watched part 1 of the movie Master Spy, a Robert Hanssen story on Sunday night.

Is it just me or did anyone else notice the nudity on Tv?

Wifes nipples exposed in 2 different shots.

The Dancers on stage exposed in reflection.

i think it's pretty normal in a majority part of the world. except in places like the US and many middle eastern countries where things like nudity on television aren't very accepted.

What's the big deal? It's not like they showed some guy having sex with a dog while his wife rubbed feces on her chest in the background. It's just a little partial nudity. I can't figure out why us americans care at all.

But I guess it is wrong to see body parts that half the people in the world have. The horror! The horror!

Some airings on TV are allowed to break the rules. Most of the time it's documentary movies like the many MTV airs, and more recently like ABC's airing of Saving Private Ryan this past Sunday. The Robert Hanssen story from what I've seen during CBS's previews was a documentary/movie, so that could be why the FCC allowed the nudity.

Oh, that would be FOX or UPN.
It's just that it's been so taboo for so many years that it's a shock to finally see it.

It is ok in the US to see body parts as long as they are beig blown off or shot up but not if they are naked for no reason. If you are going to show a nipple it has to explode.

I wouldn't even notice little things like that, unlesss it was played in the couple of hours when it's supposed to be kiddie-viewing time

I would just like to say, all Americains do not agree with the idea of censorship, I for one don't, I agree that a parent should censor what thier children watch but it isn't the government's place to do so.

In Australia you can't show on TV anything which falls under "adult themes" between 3.00 p.m --- 6.00 p.m

    in case kids are watching

This is not the government's fault thus it shouldn't be thier problem, I can understand censoring "free TV" you know non-cable and satilite dish. But I pay good money for cable thus I shouldn't be limited to what I can watch, I like the idea that dgital cable is bringing VIA the parental lock out codes and such, but in fact I hate cencorship. And still disagree with the idea of the government doing this.

Censorship happens because they want you to pay for porn. Why even bother censoring a few body parts when kids have the Internet anyways?

The television networks are not governed by any law which places limitations on their content. Each network has a body called "Standards and Practices" ("Program Practices" at CBS)which is an internal group that deems what is acceptable to air on a particular network.

Therefore, if CBS Program Practices feels full frontal nudity at any hour of the day is fine, they can go right ahead and show it. I was flipping the other night and caught a couple of minutes of "Saving Private Ryan" on one of the broadcast networks, and in the time I stayed there I heard the "F" word more than once. Certainly that's not typically allowed by Standards and Practices but they allowed the movie to be aired uncut to preserve it's impact.

I mean, they could air "Casino" uncut if they wanted to, complete with it's exactly 362 uses of the "F" word (for those wondering, that's two F-bombs per minute).
I thank my Lord for all His wonderful blessings.

Not entirely true. They still have to follow FCC regulations. I am betting "Standards and Practices" has to confirm special airings with the FCC board. http://www.fcc.gov/eb/broadcast/obscind.html

I don't know whats wrong with the americans. We are and I will say it completely PRUDE compared to Europeans. I took a trip to Italy this summer and let me tell you, Nudity is nothing big. Its on billboards and all over the place. This shouldn't be a problem, however in the US it is.

But I see that the people and media are slowly making the change and things like showing partial nudity on tv are becoming accepted.

  23. #23
Actually, I recently read somewhere that a poll in Italy revealed that somewhere around 40-50% of the citizens wanted to outlaw nudity on TV, etc...

That is if your provider carries the channel. Some don't even carry it. LOL, and don't ask how I know...

    LOL

Yeah, the cable provider here doesn't carry any "adult" channels. Directv offers about 8 now though... but don't ask me how I know that either.

I don't think anyone needs to ask how you knew that. We all should know why.

Not just porn channels, no. It is that the free channels don't have the nudity - or only as much as they can get away with. HBO, Showtime and other movie channels and such are not porn channels, but they do show the movies uncut and you do have to pay for them.

Agreed. In Europe this is perfectly normal, but you don't see it in the US or Canada. In fact, in Europe you see much 'worse' things during the day when kids watch TV than just topless.

Last time I checked, all humans have at least 1 nipple.. Kinda funny they can show all the breast but have to cover that part up.. the part we all know what looks like!

Yes, we pay for it if and when we choose to purchase it. In Europe and other places you pay for it whether you want it or not. (Check your income tax rates for current prices.)

I was watching a documentary earlier tonight on people who work as strippers .. men and women .. and we had footage of some of their acts

the show carried the warning " simulated sex scenes " and "adult themes" didn't even bother to mention language

this was on the government channel

I got a litle bored with the language which was pretty horrific so I switched channels to find myself in the middle of a very graphic "love" scene, switched to another channel to find a homosexual scene, switched to another to find myself in the middle of an advertisment for phone sex

nothing interesting on so far .. put on some music instead

Oh, I see you get the Bill Clinton Network. Is that on basic cable or pay-per-view?

I've seen some nudity on TV before but usually kept to a minimum... a glance of a millisecond or so... Usually they keep it pretty censored

There have been many nude scenes (not porn movies) being aired on networks like UPN, NBC, etc... late at night (past midnight) of course.

I'm in Canada and I see it happen all the time.
