Raptor is likely to be better. It has better random read/random write performance, whereas a large sata drive may have better sequiential read/write for large files. A database does lots of small read/write accesses at random points on the disk.
For a single disk a raptor is comparable to scsi. Scsi gets better when you start to have raid arrays.
150GB SATA1 Raptor is better than 1TBSATA2
SCSI is way better but cost more, this is why there is such a thing called Raptor, its a cheap SATA Drive with higher RPM, you could easily double your cost by going to SCSI.
