    TOTALLY RANDOM/EPIC PROJECT

I'm taking a Dell Optiplex GX620 and loading Windows 7 Pro RTM on it. I will run some performance tests on it, and I will provide pics of the setup, when its finished.
My Dell Optiplex GX620 is a SFF PC with 1 GB ram, P4 HT (Speed unknown as of now), 80 GB Hard Drive and an unknown lame graphics card. For now to get internet on it, I'm using ICS with my desktop since the hardware is in my room, and I only have one wireless adapter now. If anyone wants to donate anything to this project, please PM me
I mainly need a wireless adapter

It'll be a little slow, but it shouldn't be too bad.

Umm, how is this epic in anyway or fashion? You loaded a box with windows 7, this shouldn't be a feat for most folks. Or am I missing something here?

Agreed, but not everyone has experience with that so it can be a big step for some people. Don't you remember back when you loaded your first OS and it actually worked ; ]

Do you... want a cookie? I can't possibly imagine any other reason you would start a thread like this for any reason other than you wanted us to tell you you're a very special boy and make you feel good about yourself.

We load PC's every day with Windows, some much older than yours. It's nothing special.

How do you get a window into a pc? I must be missing something but they aren't made to fit into a standard atx case...

ROFL, well my PC has a window. It's pretty cool but I don't do much staring into it.
    Nothing here right now.

Loading an OS is child's play anymore. OS loads default drivers for everything, nearly everyone has broadband & you can grab any updates you need in minutes, instead of hours of waiting for your 28k modem to download that 75 meg service pack. (go back to 1997).

Back when I loaded my "first OS" as you put it, NT 4.0 Workstation loaded without an issue. Loaded the Service Pack & drivers without issue. Now getting NT 4 workstation, dos 6.22 & Win98OEM to work & place nice as a muti-boot and using the same Office 27 install location (within both operating systems), now that was at the time "an Epic project".

Specs I ran for the above box was Pent. 200mhz w/ MMX 32 MB ram, 3.1 GB hard drive, a quad speed cdrom drive, 28k modem, ect...

Now if the kid loads an older os on an older box, or even win 7 on an older box, it could be an "Epic project". But the above? Nah.
