Help me find provider for new site

Hi,

Im about to start a streaming/downloading site and for that I will need a dedicated server with a lot of space and offering a lot of traffic.
Provider should be located in Europe.

If you can recommend one also please fill me in on what deal from that provider would suit my needs since this is not my cup of tea really

Space should be minimum 500gb, traffic is hard to say but hopefully we will need a lot so we need a flexible host with who we can grow if needed.

Streaming format will be .flv and files will be converted to that format on the live server.

If there is something else I should think of please fill me in.

Thanks in advance!

sounds like an ffmpeg based system, is that right?

where are you from? are you from europe?
how much monthly bandwidth do you expect to pull?

I have seen an flv based stream/download site which pulls 500-600GB/day
make sure you wont be paying any extra bandwidth fees!!

yes its ffmpg based and yes im from europe.

Its really hard to predict the monthly bandwith. The site could be a hit or also a total failure :/

So the best would be if I could find somewhere to start at a reasonable level and then grow if necessary

You might want to look into a unmetered solution or possibly 10tb.com.

I know there is a unmetered server provider in Europe, OVH.

who will install all the software for you?
do you require a managed solution?
OVH is not managed.

If its managed its good but its not necessary, you can always find someone to manage it for you.

You may want to have a look over at www.webhostchat.co.uk

A lot of UK based providers lurk there and you can publicly post asking for a quote from everyone who is registered as a legit business for free.
It might give you a few more alternatives and let you know the rough cost of providing the service you require.

Hope that helps
